I’m new to mini moto stuff,at 61 (210 lbs) years old not looking to do anything besides buzz around the neighborhood and occasionally give grandkids a ride on back. I was told by a very unreliable source that stock suspension had no compression or rebound valving at all. If that’s the case does weight of fork oil you put in forks make a difference ? Planning on putting 6.5nm fork springs in and wanting to know what weight fork oil I should try? I know there’s many options available for upgrading suspension but with what I’m doing I’m wanting to go very basic/cost affective route. I’ve got a garage full of big bikes setup for off road and going faster, this monkey is just for putting a smile on my face in the evening. Thx in advance, may be more questions to follow.

I put Ohlins black shocks for riders over 200 pounds on my 25 Monkey. Dialed the preload down a bit and they are very much in balance with the forks now. I like the ride, much better damping in the shocks and the forks seem just fine for riding bumpy back roads. I also went down one tooth on the front sprocket and it was a real improvement to overall performance. My weight is 210-215 also.

Stock fork oil weight is 10w.
If you are putting the correct springs in to match your weight, I’d stick with 10w or maybe go to 15w but nothing heavier.
