I think my 17 has been running lean. all I have done is an AR exhaust and the stock airbox mod. I pulled the plug and Im not sure what to be looking for.

It was a bit whiter before but I wiped it on a towel to see if it would come off, some did. For comparison I pulled my brothers stock groms plug

Give me your opinions on wether it is running lean or not.

Also how warm should the transmission? cover be the one right next to the shifter it gets hot enough to where I can barely hold my hand on it is this normal? same for the clutch cover

It doesn't look as bad as mine did after about 5000 miles of full exhaust and airbox mod and no tuner. I went to the colder plug that honda reccomends and although I haven't checked it, it seems to be pulling a bit better so I feel like it was too lean myself before the plug change. I plan on getting the EJK fuel control ASAP though

They do get very warm after a ride. This is normal

It's bolted to motor with hot oil running thru it, so it should get pretty damn warm/hot lol

Grom comes with CPR6EA-9, in user manual Honda recommends to change it for CPR7EA-9 if you run 50-60mph for a long distances. I changed mine, because after the first 1000 mile bike started to jerk running wot for more that 10 minutes. Spark plug color was white (bike is all stock!) , means lean, typical for a modern honda bike. They are fighting for economy these days!
I installed the AFR Meter and found the fact that at the 4th gear, wot, 60mph the afr is leaning out with every mph, it goes from 13.0 to 14.5! Bike is programmed to run like this from the factory!

Many of BBK kit owners prefer NGK CR9E 6263 spark plug, as I know.
