I want to buy the gaskets for the oil change, however my Honda dealership doesn't have anything for the Grom. I found a couple websites but shipping is super high and seems to take a long time. I wasn't sure if anyone on here knows of a better place to buy from??

Thank you

I got gaskets from Honda, no problem. I got both the right side crankcase gasket and the one for the oil spinner. They are being lazy by not wanting to look up the part numbers or something cause the parts are available. Makes you wonder how the plan to do service on Groms if they can't get parts.

The dealer is being lazy/incompetent. OK they don't have it in stock, they can order it and have it in 2-3 days.

That said, I virtually never buy gaskets for stuff. Too expensive and despite being a common maintenance item, dealers seem to almost never stock them. Yamabond 4 is the shit, I have yet to ever have it leak on anything I've used it on. A tube is less than the price of one OEM gasket and will make dozens.

Thanks for the info about Yamabond 4. Actually, the dealer tried to sell me that stuff, but I had read mixed reviews about similar stuff on line. I may buy some once next time. The gaskets were not expensive though. Both gaskets were cheaper than the Yamabond, but as you say you can make many more gaskets with it. The dealer (part's guy) also said I wouldn't need to change the gasket...just use the same one since the bike was so new. He was also probably right about that, but danged if I'll get into the bike, then not be prepared if I should tear the gasket or find it is ragged.

Sometimes you can get lucky and not destroy the gasket on disassembly, though it's not a great idea to re-use it. They are designed to swell slightly with oil contact, so re-using them can be hit or miss.

Yamabond 4 is actually Threebond 1194 in a different tube. I've had nothing but good luck with it. Make sure the surfaces are clean and degreased, apply it to only one surface, wait a couple minutes, then assemble and torque in a cross-wise pattern. Done, you can refill with oil immediately.

I wouldn't recommend using the Yamabond unless you know what you're doing. If you use too much and it gets in a oil orifice, you will have some real problems.

Most of the time you can get the cover off without destroying the gasket. When I use new gaskets, I spray each side with silicone spray. The gasket can be reused several times then. I've done this for 30 years and never had a problem, just don't do this on a head or base gasket.
