It seems to be on clips and bolts. I tried washing them off but it just reappears when it dries. Could it be like a corrosion thing building up? I do live near the beach.

Also how do you clean rust spots on the disc brake?

Hmmm never seen that before.

As for rust on the disks, I never worry about it. As soon as I ride and hit the brakes it is removed by the pads.

Mist a little wd40 on the engine and it'll stop the corrosion.

Looks like replacing those small pieces and bolts with high grade stainless steel would be a great mod.

Yup he's right, I had an 09 R6 I bought from someone who lived near the beach. He garaged it everynight, but the salt moisture in the air did the same thing to all my various steels and aluminum bits on my bike too.
