In the owners manual it shows how to fill the gas tank. There is a metal piece you fill up to.

Theres still lots of room above this mark however.

What happens if you go past it?

Thanks!

Nothing. Fill a little higher and wait, the level will go down, do it again and again. You can do it a couple of times and it will increase your overall range. Just go slow or you will splash fuel all over the place.

lol.. yah what he said ^^

actually the ruckus had the bar.. just filled it just past it on the ruckus.. on the grom it has another inch or so.. shouldn't hurt anything as long as you arent splashing it everywhere.. i really hate the gas cap though.. why couldn't it be one that is hinged.. i hate having to put it down on the ground or on top of the gas pump

Well, the one on my 2004 ST1300 was nearly identical to the Groms except it was hinged.

And it SUCKED oh did it suck. The rotating key mechinism would jamb making it impossible to close it sometimes and difficult to open. Broken off keys in the lock were common.

Actually its not the hinged or not hinged question its....why is there a key in the first place? Whos going to steal 1.45 gallons of gasoline? Whos going to screw with your gastank so it needs to be locked?

ACTUALLY they make screw in replacements for the ST1300s hinged gas cap so it would not suprise me if the hinged STs cap fits the Grom.

If thats what you want...

yah same with the ruckus.. composimo made a keyless design.. i bet he or someone else will make one for the grom.. that suxs about the hinged one and keys breaking in there.. one time on my ruckus some dirt got in there and i couldnt get the gd gas cap off.. finally messed around with a paperclip and got the dirt out enough that the key would fit..
