Met up with Jesse yesterday afternoon to pick up the surf rack. The install went smoothly and took less than 15 minutes to install. Basically just need snap ring pliers (angled works best) to put the bushings in and an Allen wrench to remove the center bolt. Then slide on the rack, put in the locking knob and your ready to go. Fitment is a little tight once you get to the other side, but that is good in the event that the locking knob comes loose.

The board is a 6'1" epoxy board so it is pretty light weight.

To me the best thing is how simple it is to remove the rack.

I had no issues at all today riding to the beach. There was a fair amount of cross wind and lots of headwind. At times I did feel the gusts, but did not need to make any correction. Speeds averaged around 50-55mph and hit around 63 going downhill. Top speed has definitely gone down a little with the board causing drag. I was worried a bit that the board would slide little by little with all the wind, but it did not move an inch. Still, I'm gonna invest in some higher quality bungee cords to be on the safe side. Jesse recommended the rubber straps and I will give those a try.

Thank you Vagabond Motorsports for another high quality product. Having a board on the Grom attracts even more attention! Biggest benefit is the ease of parking during those crowded days where your left circling the beach waiting for someone to leave.

that is one of the coolest thing I've seen so far and I'm a surfer from way back when.

My first surfboards that I built back in Hilo Hawaii. Spray painted the lighten bolt since that was big back then, Town & Country Surfboards, Gorden & Smith, Hobie, and more old school.

It's surprisingly stable at speed. I've got a couple buddies that have racks on their big bikes and ride with 8 footers. Safe? Who knows but it is fun.

More info on the racks HERE. First production run ended up making them kinda pricey but it is a whole lot more solid than adapting the moped style racks and all handmade here in San Diego.

Right on Cisco!! Born and raised on the Big Island myself, but unfortunately no shaping skills here.

I think the pictures with the board may be a little misleading. When I actually went out the board was forward a bit more so it was pretty much covered by the bike. It may look sketchy but I didn't really notice much while riding around. I wonder if it also has to do with the location of the mounting point. Still I am always mindful of the potential risk it adds.

Haha yea the bungee cords definitely need to go especially when you can find them at the grocery store. When I actually rode to the beach, I had three more hooked on and my leash wrapped against the rack to keep it from sliding. I will probably use the straps from my car rack as they have a sticky rubber grip and don't stretch.

Cisco that's sweet you got to make your own boards. I would love to do that one day.

It works with the milk crate rack at the same time? Thats cool I do want the milk crate rack

Thing is I surf 9' foot boards and that would just be to ridiculous long to do I feel

so my other option is to go with the inflatable uli board Uli Boards | Premium Inflatable Paddle Boards | Ultra Light & Portable

They are decent inflatable boards I have tried 7ish foot boards but I am tall and

the shorter boards still feel to squirmy for me/hard to get up on

maybe if my skill gets much better
in the future I will try a shorter board

This rack might also be good for a boogy board
haven't played or caught a wave on those in forever
do people still do that? Might get one and try it out!

Everything about your bike is tied together,
Grom means Young Surfer = (Small bike) + (Surf board Rack) + (Wetsuit Rack).

Love it, your probably the only one in here using the bike for it's intended purpose.
