Thanks for the comments. we will try to do our best on the quality and want to provide good quality products at affordable prices. it is a difficult balance but we'll contine to improve on quality and keep prices from increasing.
Cut outs etc should be correct and we will try to improve the trimming so that that is the case. we get a lot more favourable than negative comments but rest assured, i for one am never satisfied and always push our guys to improve.
On the thinness, sorry, I make no apologies for our carbon being thin, as that is the prime objective, to make it as thin and light as possible especially as the parts which are stick on. Now, we did receive feedback that people wanted replacement parts rather than stick on ones and we have taken this on board. At the beginning the market was new and we had no idea you guys would be willing and capable of pulling your bike to pieces. Like the tank shrouds, we used to offer just the stick on ones because we thought oweners would be reluctant to pull a perfectly good bike apart. How wrong we were LOL so now offer two types of replacement types. Also, in our defense, our range mostly covers replacement parts not stick on ones nowadays, it is just you ordered the ones which are stick on in our range! We could produce replacement parts for the tank cover and the lower tank but the parts are quite complex to reproduce in carbon due to the many small fixing points. Unlike the Aprilia you mention, which was designed to have carbon parts, the Grom designers never took that aspect on board. Ducati parts are much easier to make in carbon for the same reason. The instrument surround is not going to be replacement unless we can source a load of lenses to glue in so there's not much we can do about that I am afraid. The headlight shroud is replacement (and not easy to make I should add because it is a tube effectively) and the windshield is a glue on part because it is a component that the OE bike doesn't have so again I am not sure what we could have done differently. Other than double sided, I am open to suggestions on how we could attach this to the instrument cluster but it seems a neat an elegant solution to the issue.
As for the inside not being that pretty, i accept that but remember mostly our parts are vacuum bagged and the inside is like that given the process due to the bag and pressure plates etc. We concentrate on the outside of the part aesthetically which is what really counts when it is installed on the bike. I mean, ever inspected the inside of injected plastic parts? it doesn't look very pretty on the inside either with ribs, overspray deburring marks and codes stamped all over the place. I wouldn't see any reason to pick fault in the original plastic despite that because it is not seen once installed on the bike and the same applies for our parts. Ok, it is nice to get that wow factor when you take something out the wrapping, point taken, but like I say, carbon vacuum bagging requires some pressure plates and there will always be some rough finish on the inside as a result.
On prices in general, we have no plans to increase them further and with more dealers carrying our products, the shipping costs will come down so the overall cost should come down.
Like I say, I take the comments on board and will do our best to improve but I just wanted to explain things so thanks for that. All comments and suggestions are welcome and we thank this forum for their support. We have a lot more products in the pipeline and look forward to some of the ideas for future projects coming from this forum and other Grom owners so please do let us know.
