You can get a census from others you track with.

Most of the racers or guys I share the track with use Dunlops (TT93). I rarely see anyone else on anything different; i.e. Pirelli or Bridgestones or IRC's. And then there is Sava, which does have a slick, and different grades (soft / med / maybe hard too) of tire. Again, I would ask around the paddock and get some insight from the more serious track junkies / racers.

Another note, ask others (the fast and more experienced guys on Groms) with similar tires of what air pressure is set to, for a base line (air pressure will vary among riders and weight). Find someone about your weight. Air pressure is key, aside from good rubber for best grip and cornering confidence. Once you have a base line, then adjust accordingly to what works best for you.

PMTs for slicks. I've ran the Bridgestones and have the Mitas DOTs on it right now. Also good options, but the PMTs are stupid for grip.
Ah, yes! I forgot about this tire brand. Thanks for posting. Although, I have never personally seen a set. If not using tire warmers, how many laps or long does it take to heat the tires up to turn some fast / hard laps?

Ive tried all types of pressures. Lower and higher than what I'm running. Ive found the 18.5/17.5 psi warm works out the best for me.

on my power pures i ran like 20lbs front and rear. Those tires blow on the track anyways. If you hang of like a monkey and use as little lean angle as possible than yeah your good. Once you really start leaning on that tire it will give.
Pilot Pures - I haven't been on the track with them, but in regards to your comment of them letting go w/ no warning, yup! found that out over the weekend. Sadly, I wasn't even at the edge of tire when occurred..... low sided on a left hander

To date, I've ran PMT slicks (these by far are the best), Mitas are good too, but did not last me very long. Currently on PMT Black Fire's, but have not tracked them, yet ..... due to PMT slicks not available at this time.

^^ interested to know if the Blackfires are as good as the slicks

I know some folks who can go quickly on the PPs but I agree - good street tire but not so good track tire.
I am told they're equiv. / close to the Mitas. Unfortunately, I won't put them to the track test any time soon. I'll post a update. Altho, I had a chance to scrub them in, doing some O and 8 drills.

I came from years of using the TT9* brand, being they were the easiest and most popular track / race tire, and performance street tire during those times. Now-a-days, most advanced track riders use either Mitas or PMT (most popular race tire). Since switching to either (Mitas or PMT's), I have not gone back to using Dunlops. Check with the folks in your region which compound works best, or most popular. Here in California (NorCal and SoCal), S-front, M-rear seem to be most favorable, fyi ;)
