I would like to hear from others on their top. On a stock bike with 230 miles on her, today I hit 57 MPH on a long straight, I was tucked in tight. Sitting up right, I get a solid 54 MPH.

I am particularly interested in what the various mods can achieve. So, if you reply, let us know what mods you have made.

Thanks,

Grom 2300 miles, full yoshimura exhaust. Intake mod, radiator hose intake hose (2000 voyager 3.3l lower radiator hose) uni pod air filter located in stock air box with snorkel removed, stock gearing

Me
180 with gear
5`8“

70 slight downhill full tuck, no wind
65 flat in slight tuck, or siting up drafting
58-61 siting up,

Intake helped a lot , but i feel I lost slight bottom and mid range.. but top end is nice, before I was lucky to get 64 full tuck with just exhaust.

I haven't checked the GPS speed, but my Grom consistently goes an indicated 64 mph on level road, which is redline. I have had it to 67 mph indicated, but I do not like to go over redline. I am 5'6", 136 lbs. and I gain the last 4 mph going into a full tuck which is how I ride on the interstate most of the time. Just pin it and cruise along at 64 indicated unless I come to a downhill and have to let off the throttle, or an uphill and get slowed down a few mph. No mods at all. I am running Rotella T6 oil, did a hard break-in, and have the high speed spark plug in. Haven't touched the exhaust or air box. On such a small bike, I think size of the rider plays a significant role. The first couple of days, I was not getting above 60 mph, but after the break-in and oil change, the bike got faster.

900miles

Mods:
13T front gear
voyager intake arm w/ stock airbox & stock air filter
Dunlop tt92 120/80/12 rear tire

Weight:
Me - 135lbs
Girlfriend - 90lbs

Top speed - Cluster read 72mph before hitting 4th gear rev limiter, obviously it may not be true mph reading due to gearing and tire change.

Hard to go wrong with a Ninja 300 if you don't want to spend a lot of money and want something that you can just take over to the fast lane of the interstate and stay there mile after mile...70 mpg mileage, top speed 105 mph, about $5300 OTD. Hugs the road very well at higher speeds too for such a light bike.

i wonder if you put a fuel box on with that full exhaust and intake would you squeeze better mpg and higher top speed?

Hi,

The my daughters bike has around 800mile on it and around 60 miles on the Light Bore Kit

The bike has the following mods

1. Yoshimura RS9 Full Exhaust
2. K&N R1100 Pod filter with air sensor mounted in the end.
3. Yuminashi Light Bore Cylinder and Piston - 150cc
4. Yuminashi Standard Head Race CAM
5. Yuminashi Valve Springs
6. Yuminashi Light Bore Injector
7. Yuminashi Light Bore Controller.
8. Std Gearing
9. Larger Mitchelin Pilot Rear Tyre (140) which has an increased rolling diameter of around 2%.

After a Dyno session we got 13BHP (thread called Simon Audis Bike Got Dyno'd)

The bike does around 75 on the flat sitting up right with my daughter on it.

The Exhaust and Filter gave around 4 to 5mph and the Bore Kit the same another 5 mph - the CAM and Controller probably added 1 or 2 MPH - but allow the fuel to be adjusted some (not all)

The best results saw 13.07HP at around 8500 RPM

If you look to the graph - different runs - different conditions you see on the bottom Graph - AFR results about 12.7 is the red line - below it is rich above it is weak - acceptable would be 11.5 to 13.5.

Blue Line - No Controller
Red Line - Final Positions on Controller
Green - Intermediate run - more Torque - Less HP

Finally we did a through gear run.

I am a big guy - and can get 77 on a down hill - tail wind - 62 or so coming back up that hill - into wind - it was a windy day - does around 72 on flat.

My daughter is less effected by hills and wind - but she gets 75 on the flat.

I suggest you start with the K&N R1100 and the Yoshimura exhaust - probably the cheapest gain.
