How effective are you finding the windscreen? I've started doing some bigger rides on my Monkey this year and can certainly see where getting out of the wind a bit would be nice. Your setup looks great and I may copy it.
I have not had chances to ride it because i sent out the ecu for a flash to DHM for the Yoshi exhaust which will be installed on Wednesday.
I could mount the screen upside-down as well to have the wider end at the top but it will sit a couple of inches lower in that configuration. Either way it will help with fighting the wind in long distance riding. I cannot wait!

Please post with how well it works once you've had a chance to try it out.
I just did a morning ride before breakfast.
The shield works. I tried to feel the wind behind the shield with my hand at 50mph, and there was no wind between the shield and my chest.
The shield sits well below my shoulders but when I felt the stream of air above the shield, it was hitting my helmet.
On the side, stock rearview mirrors were within the bubble as well.
So the air bubble created by the shield is quite large.
The approximate size of the bubble is represented by the yellow circle below.
It was 52ºF and I was feeling warmer than before.
I can adjust the angle of the shield but currently it is about 85º.
It is shielding very effectively.
However, I feel it is creating noticeable drag.
This was my first ride since putting on the Yoshi exhaust and DHM ecu flash. The instruction from DHM states it takes about 15 miles before the ecu settles and become fully effective. But I got 61 mph.
So I will have to go out again for top speed testing and the shield will have a negative effect.
I will have to go test top speed with and without.

@Shinkers, I went for a ride after taking the shield off. And the top speed was the same. lol. So as far as the shield goes, there is no extra drag.
And the Yoshi + DHM ecu does not increase top speed much but the Monkey pulls harder at all rev ranges.
I put the shield back on and went for a 1+ hour long ride. I love how much wind the shield blocks!
With or without comparison convinced me that the ride is much more pleasurable with the shield in 56ºF weather.
In summer when it is hot, I may prefer to get blasted by the wind to cool off. But right now, I definitely like how it feels with the shield on.

I received the DHM Cam in the mail today. I will have to order an intake, install the Cam, and send out the ecu for reflash... The fun continues.

Jim, I am curious and thought I'd ask since you're in the midst of a DHM stage 2 upgrade on your 22 and you may have already given this consideration. You're adding a DHM S1 cam, flash tune, intake, and exhaust. Have you or should you need to consider an oil cooler at some point with just those changes?

I know an oil cooler is important for BBK's but is there a general consensus on whether any sort of oil cooling might be needed or recommended for the DHM stage 2 upgrade you're undertaking on the 22 engine?

Would you be able to "run wild" wide open on the road for a lengthy time carefree of any reliability/durability considerations or repercussions if the need to do so arises with out any additional cooling modifications once your planned upgrade is complete?
On Youtube, I have not seen anyone install an oil cooler for stage 2 mods.
DHM tuning addresses the issue by providing proper fuel air ratio whereas intake + exhaust w/o tuning will run the engine too lean, which will run the engine hotter.
If my bike develops any engine related problems after the installation, I will make sure to write about it.
I often go WOT because I travel on 50-55mph zone frequently. And when I take the Monkey on longer trips this summer, it sure will get tested on longer stretches of uphills where I will go WOT. 😄

Thanks. Looking forward to reading about your experiences.

And will you be staying with 87 octane fill ups after or might that change?
I may get 92 if it is ethanol free. Otherwise, 87.

180 miles per fill up.
in 10000 miles, 56 fill ups X $0.50 = $28.
I have never done the calculations before but That is not significant difference.
But it feels good to be able to use 87.

I went and tested performance gain. On my 2022 Monkey, I have installed Yoshimura full exhaust RS3, Chimera intake, DHM S1 CAM, and DHM ecu tune.
And Now I actually feel the power difference.
I can go 6-7 miles faster everywhere. On a steep uphill where I could do only 51 mph, I am able to go 57 mph.
And top speed has increased to 66-67 mph. It used to be 59-60 mph.

Power mods and cost so far...
1. Yoshimura with spark arrestor = $650
2. Chimera intake = $140.
3. DHM CAM = $180.
4. DHM ecu flash = $200.

Total = $1170.

I am happy with the result as I can comfortably travel on 55 mph roads even on the steepest sections.

But will it hold up?
I hope so.
I will keep updating with how my Monkey is doing.
The bike had 325 miles this morning and it now has 402 miles.
As of today, I do not have plans to do high compression piston install.
My sprockets are all stock and the speedometer is very accurate according to the radar speed checkers on two different occasions.

I wanted to see how fast 4th gear will go and it bounced off the rev limiter at 66 mph. So this tells me, 5th gear has room to run but the power is the limiting factor. On a slight decline, I saw 74 mph in 5th gear. :)
Some say the bike runs faster in warmer weather than cold weather and today it was about 50ºF.

And on Youtube, I have seen a 2022 Grom with the same mods hit 72 or 73 mph but I have read Grom speedometers are off by a few mph.

Just curious, in a perfect world where warranty isn't a concern, is there a certain mileage range people like to reach after break-in before adding a stage 2 upgrade? I'm no mechanic and am wondering on how swapping in a more aggressive cam at the "right" time might affect other engine internals vs a period as early on as you did.

I have always liked racing around making do with the stock Grom engine on back roads but reading about your experience has gained my interest.
1. With any hondas i have owned or any car for that matter nothing ever goes wrong during the first year. And i am betting that on a simple motorcycle as Grom or Monkey, nothing is going to break within 1 year before warranty expires anyway.
so voiding the 1 year warranty was not a concern for me.

2. Many people are doing stage 2 on these bikes. With internet forums and youtubes, I would have seen lots of warnings or regret videos already if stage 2 mod resulted in quick engine failures.

so i was not worried at all. Stage 3 or bbk may require oil cooling and that is where i draw the line for now.

I drove out not expecting heavy rain.
But After about 5 miles, I ran into heavy downpour. I had my cold/wet weather gear on so I was not too concerned. But I felt I was slightly underdressed for the weather and I had not brought a midlayer in my backpack so I decided to head back home. I was about 20 miles into my ride.
I thought maybe I should capture video of my wet weather riding and I parked the monkey at one point to mount the Gopro camera on the bike. After I started the bike, it had very small hick up while accelerating. Then I noticed CEL was on.
Bike was running OK but I guess water got in the engine because while the bike was on its stand the tilt angle introduced more rain water into the airfilter.
I pulled over and turned the engine off, pulled the key out and started the bike again but the light stayed on.
And after 1 mile or 2 I stopped and pulled the key out and started the engine again but the CEL did not go away.
The bike was running fine. I was out of the rain after about 10 miles.

I arrived at home and turned the engine off to open the garage door. After I got back to the bike and turned the bike back on, the CEL light was gone!

I came inside the house, pulled the SD card out of the camera and inserted into the computer and...... nothing had recorded.
I guess the record button didn't get pressed. So I have no footage of wet weather riding. LOL.
