My brother (garrythesnail) and I have been talking about doing this for awhile now, but finally woke up early enough on a Saturday to follow through with it.

There's a road that used to be open many years ago Called North Fork San Gabriel Canyon Road. For Southern California natives it's the road that connects Angeles Crest Highway and San Gabriel Canyon Road in Azusa. It's been long closed and there was suppose to be alot of work done to it. With the recent rain we got we should have probably done a little more research prior to doing it.

The Groms probably weren't the "best" bikes for this, but they were the only ones we could get under the gate. My friend Chris (theorangebang) joined us too.

I'll let the photos speak now. haha

This is how we started.

After we got under the gate

The road was looking pretty good after we got passed.

It slowly got a little harry...

And even more harry....

Then we came across this in the road... just a little bit of a landslide

Got off the bikes to do a little scouting to determine whether we should turn back or not.

Some rock moving had to be done

needed to deadlift it over one spot

One Grom through with a little mud...

Number 2 on it's way

Three Groms through

Didn't realize that this dirt was so muddy.. lmao

Some boulders in the way..

Contemplation

most shit in the road !

more mud crossings...

Snails bike went the wrong way...

Finally made it !

So very cool. Back in the day I actually rode that road when it was open and in good condition. Didn't realize how good I had it.

Hello slevin,
great adventure, hope you all had fun in those desperate situations.
As far as I can see you changed your Dunlops to Michelins? The rear looks wide, is that a 140? Why did you change them after all?

Very cool! That would be a blast, just not on a lowered grom.

lol ! I LOVE the photoshop, my friend text it to me in the morning I was dying from laughter. We actually all have the same under belly (tyga makes it) and they all faired pretty well. the only bike to sustain any damage was TheOrangeBang's due to his Yamamoto exhaust hanging a lot lower then even the under belly. It just has a couple dings in the canister that are only visible while laying on your back.

thanks ! it was definitely fun ! although the grom was definitely not the right bike for the job, we did make due though.

As far as the dunlops, they were too soft for the street. After about 2300 miles they were definitely flat spotted down the center, it made the bike handle unpredictable in the canyons and on the track. mine and my brothers bikes are both running 140 rears, reasoning was that with the stock 130's I've destroyed the outer chicken strips in the canyons and the track with the little bit extra width I have more room for error if I push the bike harder. Wasn't looking for the fattie look or anything, just happened to be that way. haha

None of the groms were lower actually, my brother and mine are on racetechs front and rear. The front forks are actually a little taller then stock. theorangebang's grom was on stock suspension, which I think is why we caught it on a rock.
