Anyone know if it is possible to look up the size of a Takegawa cylinder by the serial numbers stamped on it. Got a Grom that was suppose to be stock and it puked oil everywhere a few blocks from my house. Then I discovered the Takegawa jug and the speedshop engraving on the head. Called the speed shop and they couldn't remember what size jug is on it.

does it not have the CC size stamped somewhere on it?

Looking at webikes site, doesnt look like CC's are stamped on the Take cylinders.... BUT there is a part number on the cam chain side of the cylinder just above the oil temp sensor port. Report back with that part number.

That's a good point on just measuring the cylinder. The part number stamped on it is 12100-KYZ-T00-B. It starts but something is clearly wrong. It starts to smoke out the lower tapped cover. The air box had about 3 oz. of oil in it. When I put the laptop to the PCV the throttle calibration was way off. WOT was only showing 56%. I'm hoping it is only the rings. But the valve is ticking as well. It is the stock head that was apparently ported and polished.

I wouldnt be so quick to pull the head off the bike. Id drain oil, check of metalic pieces. Pull tappet covers n see what valve clearances are, check the crank / cam timing, fill with proper amount of oil (sounds like it might of been over filled), check compression, and if compression is good then deal with tuning.

Reason i say i wouldnt go pulling the head off is its gonna be somewhat hard to get a headgasket of a proper size, and its a decent amount of work for something that could be as simple as a bad tune and too much oil.

If you have trouble sourcing the head gasket you can clean the head gasket you have well (as long as its intact) and use that copper spray gasket and reuse it. It's not ideal, but it'll do. Until you can get a new one from overseas.
