stock seat sucks for long rides... if you are doing curves then you don't notice it but when you are on a flat road going 55 then it suxs... there ain't no getting used to this seat.. the ruckus seat is better than this lol..

i sat on Grom1202's custom seat.. its like night and day... definitely looking into getting a new seat sometime this summer

I sat on a Corbin seat on a Grom last weekend and it felt a lot more comfortable than the stock one. I didn't ride it though. CiscoSanJose's Grom. I would recommend them, I've had a Corbin seat on my Yamaha for 3 years. That's with about 6k miles of freeway riding.

I have gotten used to the seat. It's still not great, but much improved over how it felt the first week. I just keep adjusting how I sit on it a little while riding scooting backwards or forwards. I do a lot of tucking too to maintain speed and that takes pressure off the tail bone. Still, it is a hard seat.

I replaced the foam in the stock seat just to give it a shot. I figured if I had to tear it apart for the seat concept upgrade, I thought I would try it my self. Damn glad I did! Best $15 I've spent on it so far. Looks just like stock but much more comfy. I have pics if you're interested.

looks good , send pics. its really going to be uncomfortable for me to do any distance with the stock seat. I really like the style of it. I have had tailbone problems for a long time and the stock seat being that firm just compounds it. The Grom is fun to ride and Im enjoying it.

Step #1 - Remove Seat Cover
Step #2 - Trace out area of foam insert. ( I get a section from the local foam shop - specifically a 1" piece of 90 I.L.D. open cell foam and 1/8" Evatech 30w smoothing foam - google it)
Step #3 - Cut out a cross-grid 1" deep using a razor knife on the area to remove ("https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWyv3c2AR7U")

Step #4 - plucked the pieces out and smoothed with a stone wheel on the dremel

Step #5 - Insert new comfy foam in the cavity

Step #6 - cover with smoothing foam ( actually helps make the entire seat a bit softer)

Step#7 - Replace stock seat cover

Step #8 - Enjoy :)

and what the heck, if I stop liking it, I'll already know how to remove and replace with a Seat Concepts or whatever. My advice is try it yourself if you're handy

It a not the foam. It is actually the narrow width of the seat where you sit. Seats such as the Mad, has super thin squishy foam and it feels like cardboard under your ass, but because your ass is on the full width of the seat pan, it is significantly more comfortable

It's the forward/downward pitch of the stock seat plus the hard foam. I prefer hard seats but that pitch on the stock seat kills the tailbone. The flat seat concepts seat is perfect. I would like it a bit more firm but I ride this bike for hours on end now with no problem.

The seat was stupid easy to install as well. I bought a $22 air stapler from harbour freight and some marine grade staples from Amazon for $16 and went to town. It took me about an hour and it was my first seat I've ever done.
