I'm looking for suggestions for a semi off-road tire for the Grom. Nothing to aggressive, but something that might work better then the stock street tires to put around the camp ground. Thoughts?

Well when I first saw the MSX I thought I would set it up as a DS bike. I held on to that thought when I learned it was coming here and I put down a deposit. Then I started looking at my fleet of toys and the roads around my house. I'm gonna ride it stock initially but then install some super soft sticky tires and keep it on the streets and canyons around my house.

If I decide I cant live without a small DS I will pick up an old CT70 and install a larger engine.

They could probably be made to fit with the correct spacers for the axle and brake disks and sprocket etc....

Assuming the Grom and the CRF50 use the same diameter axle.

But then you would have dirt tires on a bike with street suspension.

Shinko 723 tires
i just tested these on dirt. I am Running 20 lbs pressure as compromise, and they are far better than the originals on the dirt. Lower pressure would suit the dirt road better, but there are also lots of curvy paved roads in near vicinity. I live on a dirt road and also play on and explore dirt roads nearby with rocky surface and significant elevation changes. I live 2.3 miles from my mailbox, and there is an elevation drop of 900 feet as well in that distance.

These tires seem somewhat similar to trials tires, grippy blocks for gravel and rocks, but not perfect for loose sand. I do not think i would want to go for full-on dirt tires even if they were available in the sizes needed for the Grom. These 723 Shinko may be best compromise available for the 70% street, 30% dirt I tend to ride.

That ohlins shock sure is tempting, but then the forks would need upgrading as well if i really wanted to smooth the bumps. Nah, i think i have spent enough on this bike. Maybe........
