They had one in stock. A red one.
It really is a very cool bike. Smaller than I thought :) (I'm a little over 6 ft)

They guys were really cool, one of the techs knew quite a bit about it, I think he might even be on this board.

I haven't decided yet. It would be totally a "I don't need it but it's super cool" bike for me, which makes me reconsider the price twice.

How many of you guys/girls bought the bike without actually riding it?

I might go back once the snow disappears...... or earlier :)

Rob if u look back to August 15,2013.

I was the first lucky person in the US to buy a GRom.

My journey to pick it up was documented on this forum.

Sight unseen... I bought it and have never regretted the purchase.

I had a Zuma 125 and then a Zuma 50.

So this was my first motorcycle. Most people said 125 is too small. But I ignored their opinions, and bought it anyway bc it was affordable.

Those same people that said I shouldn't buy it, still don't have a 250 or 600. Why??? Because they are too expensive. And 600cc is easy 6-7k

I bought my Grom because I use to have a 1987 YSR-50 when they first came out. I was a bodybuilder and I'm 5'9" 212 lbs so I was a big ape on a small bike but I loved the little motor cycle because I could ride it like a mad man and do stupid stuff for cheap and I sold it because I had a couple of other motorcycles, Harley, Honda Shadow 600, GSXR-1100. Years later I kept saying to myself that I wished I never sold the YSR-50 it was good on gas mileage, it was fun and it was small enough to teach friends how to ride a motorcycle.

When the Grom came out I went to the Honda dealers around Santa Clara, Calif looking for one in June 2013 and most dealers already had a waiting list 10 buyers or more long. I asked the dealers local what the OTD price was and most quoted $4,100-$4,500. I wanted to see one in person and I was told that at the Laguna Seca Motorcycle races Honda would have one there so I went to see it and I fell in love with it and ordered one. I had to wait till Jan 9, 2014 to get mind.

now I use this Grom instead of my Tundra truck or my Hayabusa to go grocery shopping and commute to the gym and around San Jose, Santa Clara, etc.

Ordered mine back in Sept and just got it about a month ago... Never ridden in one but after seeing it, I just had to have one... So much fun... I've been riding it all the time that I've been neglecting my ninja 300...

The Grom is a unique bike, due to the small size making it so easy to ride, move in and out of the garage, flick from side to side, turn, etc. It shifts as smooth as any bike I have ever owned. I love mine. Easy to work on too. The other small bike I have is the Ninja 300, which you might look into. It is a full-size bike and remarkably capable for only 300 ccs. At 6 ft. you could also ride the supermotos which are too tall for me. The Grom has been out about 6 months now and so far there are no major problems with the bike.

I actually do have a bike already DRZ400 Super Moto.
Well, I think I'll have to wait until my tax return comes in, and then I think it will be anoter trip to the dealer :)

Riding a bike first is very important, but some dealers don't have demos. Some dealers ride along with you on another bike ahead too, others just turn you loose. I like to be turned loose with the bike. I also bought my Grom without riding it since I ordered it. Hadn't even sat on one. Thing is, you can tell often within the first minute of riding a bike if you are going to like it or if it has glitches. Hell, when I bought my Gixxer 1000 and was leaving the deal garage and went over the little bump to keep rain out of the building, there was this thunk...Brand new bike, no miles. I thought WTF? Turned out that is a problem with the model. Noisy, thunky forks. I got used to it, but had I known the bike had that, I would have thought twice. Again, no demo. If it isn't in the demo, then you can complain. Otherwise the dealer/mechanic is likely to come back with "they're all like that." Actually, I have bought a couple of demos. They rode really well, had only a few miles, and I could tell the bike rode and performed well...something you do not know about a brand new bike. Demos can often be purchased for a slightly better price. Demos come with full warranties too. Heck, that may be the best way to buy a bike. If you want it broken in a certain way, that's a problem, but that is about the only negative. You can look the demo over too for any damage. Sure beats buying a pig in a poke like most of us did with the Grom. We lucked out with this model.

What did I notice about the Grom right away? First it really vibrates a lot at idle. Actually, that's the only negative and it isn't a major problem. Gives the bike character. Be sure to use Loc-Tite on the license plate screws though. The 2nd thing I noticed was the Grom was slower than I had thought it would be, but after a few miles, it got faster.

I bought mine on coolness alone. My dealer didn't offer test rides and I didn't care one bit. I know bikes pretty well, I wanted something quicker than my Ruckus and slower than my Triumph but tons of fun. I read here in the forums before purchase as a lot of talk was going in the Ruckus forums. I've only got 29 miles in mine as it's freezing out but loves every one of those miles...oh yeah, cheap!

Hey rob.....
Here is one for ya, my wife (and son) bought mine and surprised me with it on her birthday and I didn't even know what it was.
Now mind ya, I'm and old desert rider/racer (50 years worth) and gettting to old to do that racing thing, so along came the Grom.
Now remember I had not ridden the Grom nor knew what the heck a grom was.
Getting a little spindilly and loosing some past strength and reaction skills, the grom came onto the scene.

Went for the 1st ride.....WOW. Cannot believe how much fun this Grom is and it's just flat easy to do every thing.
The dang thing gets more attention than a pack of puppies at the beach.
Anywho get the thing and have fun and I will bet big bucks you will love it. Also.....don't wait, times a wasting. Trust me.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to get one :)
I like your reply (the other ones as well, don't get me wrong) - but I like yours because I'm no spring chicken either "D
LOL....
You know, I don't think the Honda folks have figured out that the older guys are a big chunk of the posible buyers meaning another marketing group.

Was trying to get one since release, had deposits all over the damn place. POS dealer by me got one and wanted way too much for it but I did go check it out and sit on it for a while. I actually had some concerns after that because I couldn't ride it (I'm a big guy) but I knew worst case I could probably get my money out of it if I didn't like it.

Within a week of seeing it, got a call from one of my deposits that it came in and promptly drove 4 hours (one way) to get it. Saved almost $1k, and first time I got to ride it was through the dealers lot and up onto my trailer AFTER purchase. I had a smile from ear to ear the entire ride home...
