So I finally installed my moto-x v2 belly pan

I don't recommend it at all. The whole cowl had to be squeezed to fit right, an when I tightened all the bolts the area around the mounting holes cracked. Idk what others experiences are but mine sucked. I would suggest adding having new spacers made an add 1/4 in to all 3 spacers at least. The forth can jus be bent out. Auto part Automotive lighting

An no I didn't put the spacers in the wrong place.

Well that is a bummer. I just got my Tyga pan but I will not install it until I get a few other things done.
You have to be careful.. I have had no issues

You send him a PM on Facebook With a link to the Picture of the item you're after. He'll reply With a price including shipping (mention where you're at).
Op, I would of definitely of put a washer on those bolts to spread out the stress being applied to the fiberglass. Sorry its messed up :(

To order from moto-x, sekd them a message on facebook. They have there parts cataloged in the there pics so you can let them know what part you are interested in.

You shouldn't need fender washers, and if you do, I would bet any good manufacturer would have supplied them with the part. Not to say moto-x isn't good; I just can't find anything about them by that name

Also, don't tighten things down until you fart if you're tightening them against fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastic...etc.

Well I expect things to fit. And they already had to be pushed in to get it to fit. If I stopped tightening there would still be gap between the parts, the screws that it replaces were torqued down so I'm gonna torque it down like the bolts I took off.

If by careful u mean not tighten all the way. Then no I'm gonna tighten to get the same torqued as the bolts they replaced.

What? Thats wrong! Steel vs poly... Of course it will crack with that amount of torque applied

Im not saying it is wromg not to use washers when they are not supplied, but ive installed plenty of fiberglass bumpers on vehicles and ive learned to disapate the stress with washers, even more so when the fiberglass isnt true to form. Again I am sorry for your problem op, my best suggestion would be take it to a body shop and see if they cant work some majic.
The problem is that nearly every supplier of cheap fiberglass parts uses polyester resin and cheap gelcoat. Epoxy is about three times stronger than polyester and a good one is much more flexible than polyester too. The problem is epoxy costs like 3-5 times as much as polyester but as always, you pay for what you get. Needless to say, we only use the best epoxy we can find which we import from France. The Thai epoxy is ok but not as good. The resin is only one part of the overall cost so not worth cutting corners over and getting cracking round mount holes, claim and negative customer feedback.
Cool. Thanks for the explanation, Paul.
I ordered one of your under belly cowl several weeks ago.... should be arriving any day now... I will post some pics once I get it installed.
Yeah...highfixed was prolly the first to receive his (V1 lower cowl). I ordered mine from KKS after his good initial review ( he did not have his Grom yet, and neither did I). I could not get the installation right when I got my Grom so I asked for help from the forum. Gromhawk posted the how-to, which helped tremendously. THEN I finally realized that the mounting hardware that came with mine was just WRONG! I then sent a message to KKS, NO WAY IT WILL FIT, ETC, ETC, DOES NOT WORK (including subtle threats). He then sent me totally different mounting hardware from what he had sent originally, stating that "I send you part already, and you give me positive feedback". One week later, I finally got the proper mounting hardware. Then, I had to make a new hole like 3 CM back on the right rear of the pan to actually get it to fit properly. I did add washers like Gromhawk recommended and I have minimal cracks in mine. The two front bolts have Philips heads and I had to buy a bolt from Home Depot for one rear side. It came with one but two were required. Seriously, the guy (KKS) did not even catalogue his sales, nor his inventory! Too much BS, but now I finally have what I wanted on my bike. WHEW!!! What a PITA!!! I could say more, but I won't.

It's always problematic ordering from long distance because everything looks good in photos. For the record, our mounting brackets are designed in Solidworks and then laser cut. The bolts on our bodywork items are proper OE Honda Allen key type and on the seat cowling, the rubber bushes are OE Honda too. The Grom is built with some really nice fasteners from the factory and it seems a shame to spoil it with anything else. it costs a bit extra but I think its worth it.

I used washers, an the point is that as the belly pan sits, it is no where near where it needs to be. Maybe the bushings were cut to the wrong length. Idk. But I used fiberglass to repair mounting holes on my stunt bike fairings an no cracks. An I torque them more than these fairings.

Now if u have to used to screws to pull the fiberglass to fit where its supposed to fit then yes it will crack. I should of stopped, yea, but I read all good reviews on the install so I figured I should jus install wit all the supplied hardware.

U can say I'm wrong all u want, I'm just sharing what happened on my install. An that these aren't top notch parts. Fairings shouldn't need to be squeezed pushed or bent in any way to be able to sit flush with the mounting locations.

Oh yea, an I was missing a bolt also. They simply said I can use bolt from hardware store. An all the bolts were that black gunmetal looking bolts that will rust. Not ss hardware that comes with the grom from the factory. An another note, the mounting points on the bike are square. An the areas for the mounting holes on the belly pan are not. They are kind of angled. Maybe 10-15 degrees off square. Exagerated it looks like a V so even if the mount holes on the cowl were in the right place it still would of cracked when the bolts got tightened from a V to a II aka square/parallel.

I got mine from moto-x facebook. Kingkongsoap jus looked sketchy from the beginning. Crapy feedback rating an on the ad it says ships from us. An wen u look more down it says shipping from thailand. Shipping costs were the same as tygas ems (which took about a week) yet it seems like they shipped it by boat with the 1-2month ship times.

Thank you tyga for keeping it high quality an legit. All them other guys making thailand stuff look bad.

I have a kingkongsoap belly pan too, came damaged already, packed shitty, prior to installation, I already filed a claim, and all the seller was worried about was positive rating, positive rating, positive rating. After all was said and done, he received a neutral rating, should have given a negative, but the guy gave me 50% refund, and I was okay with it at that point, because I've worked with crap like this before, and I'm typically able to make things work.

After everything was mounted on though, it was pure crap. All of the hardware was crap, the mounting angles of the fiberglass, to the angles they need to be to mount properly are all crap, and the amount of force needed to mount this belly pan from kingkongsoap is just complete crap. I don't feel comfortable having all bolts/hardware that hold this belly pan, directly to the motor, not being fully tightened down properly. I'm afraid of leaks, or the cheap hardware breaking. I'm thinking of alternatives like drilling the mounting hole on the belly pan to a larger diameter, finding a rubber bushing that will fit into that hole, using a metal spacer/top cap that will seat the spacer, and tighten down securely onto the bellypan. (If anyone here is into '90s Hondas, imagine the stock intake box bolts. There is a M8 bolt, with a large washer on it, going through a metal spacer with a large flat washer on the back of it, all through a rubber bushing that is secure to the airbox, that's what I plan on attempting with the belly pan)

We'll see what happens. I think I'll need a 12 pack the night I do..
