Can you power on wheelie in first?

Do you think the pipe freed up power or is the tone what's getting you excited? Haha any chance you could get it dynod?

I will almost guarantee that thing can't power wheelie.
I've had to get on the back and clutch it up so far. With the new exhaust on it comes up a *little* easier.

Yea no power wheelies not close. Clutch it and your good. And yes a friend of mine is gunna dyno it once theres more to it. But sounds like a big 50. Lol
An exhaust alone will not make more power. It needs a map update/powercommander to match.

that's not true. I've done modifications for MANY years with exhaust and intake with great success without changing my timing or fuel delivery. Letting a motor breathe does wonders, and you don't have to do any magic for it to work. The discussions revolving around the need for the new black box is for the new injectors and rev limiter changes.

With that said, my low end is noticeably better now that it can breathe. To top that off, I don't lose torque at 8K rpm. It used to fall flat as soon as it hit 8K, but now I can get right past 9 pretty easy. Next is the intake. After I get bored I'll order up a big bore kit.

Don't be so sure. I work around exhaust, and build exhaust every day at a "world class corporation," for a living. And I will say you are very wrong, but your right as much as your wrong. I have seen it proven on a dyno that just a "can" alone will help out on top end, but hurts bottom end most of the time. I've seen all around gains, all around losses too. Now, I work in the snowmobile and atv industry, but they all work on the same principal.

Slip on, or full system?

Nope. 25 years riding, 8 racing and I cant even tell you how many I've built out. I've had many bikes dyno'd, with only exhaust vs. exhaust and matched jets/maps. And I'll tell you right now, I've never seen the numbers go up just by bolting a can on there. I've actually seen them go down.

If you change the way an engine exhales, you have to change they way it inhales too. If you don't your performance gains will be negligible.

Ok yes your right but im telling you now that the full system does wonders i love it more now, overall a bettter power throughout all the gears. I can flex my years too on ya but im only 29 a quality company like yoshimura, termignoni, akrapovic is quality stuff aint talking about shit ass megaphones or two brothers ok we all know what has to happen with adding a system and power commander to add more fuel to make it run at its best. But i put the damn exhaust on my bike and noticed theres a difference. Do you even have one dolid you put on a exhaust yet? No cuz if you did you would have the same outlook as me or the other dude bro! So with that said bring it shit if your in cali ill let you borrow my bike ill put the stock on and then put the yosh back on so you can see. Dont knock shit till you actually done it to the grom.

More air in, more air out == more power. All that crap about needing backpressure is BS in my opinion. An engine is an airpump.

IIRC the honda K series guys are up to 4" exhaust and making more NA power than ever

Yup but for that you need a really high compression engine. Georgie's had a 5inch intake with a 3 exhaust it was magical with its 15.1 compression engine lol

No worries man. I'm not dogging you personally. Nor the product. Just sharing what I've encountered while trying to squeeze more power out of my toys. I'm no mechanical engineer though, just a dude that likes making his shit go fast.

And if you're serious about meeting up, I'll be in Cali from this Friday to next Friday. Downtown San Fran. I'm totally up for drinking a few beers with ya and doing a run on your Grom if you're down. I expect to get that call that mine is ready the second the door closes behind me on the plane...
Exhausts totally work. Try this real world example. Run a mile someday normal. Then the next day run another mile, but this time put a straw in your mouth. Bet it was much harder to run with the straw in your mouth. Same principal as an intake/exhaust. More air in and out, better performance. My Yoshi pipe is sitting on my workbench waiting for this bike to arrive. I feel like my dealer will be the last in the country to get first run. 9/11 ship date. Sucks.
