Shifting?

Manual says to shift to 5th at 30+, I just stay in 4th even at 40mph for a short run. Do you ever use 5th gear just around 40 mph?

30 mph in 5th is fine if you're just trying to maintain that speed and not climbing a hill or wanting to accelerate very hard. However, I would avoid that type of slow cruising during the break-in period.

Yeah I’m still breaking it in with just 80 miles at the moment. I shift to 5th above 40mph, I hear the engine screaming a bit but I like 4th gear at 40mph, hope I’m not forcing it.

By my very rough calculations, here are the speed ranges that should keep the engine rpms between the TQ and HP peaks and (@redline).

3rd 27-34 mph (51 mph)
4th 33-44 mph (65 mph)
5th 43-58 mph (80 mph)

Think I like these shifting patterns, I may not need the 5th gear.

I just full send mine, its at 200 miles so far haha. Drove it 70 miles home from the dealership ;) Should be alright... I guess. I don't redline it however.

Nice!! I don’t ride mine much just store runs, but busy modifying it. However, I see the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, I’m liking it and it’s only $4k. I might sell my monkey and get that😀
