Since there's so many ex-Ruckus pilots here I figured this was as good a place to ask as any. Broken in and box-stock--without doing any "cheating" like crouching down, running it down a hill or any modifications--what's the top speed on these little buggers with the rider sitting upright? What will they comfortably cruise at?

mine did faster than 38 stock.. mid 40s stock.. now mid 50s.. just up hills sux.. heh

I think the Geniune 2-stroke 50 goes 50 mph tops. My Metropolitan with the same engine as the Ruckus has a top speed of 35 mph indicated on level ground, no wind. If I were to get another small scooter, it would probably be the new Hooligan 170i when it comes out in a few months. It should do 70mph since the Buddy with the same engine does that.

Was it a met2? A met1 will outrun a ruckus from a stand still but both only run about 40 from the factory, I've seen some wonders do mid 40s (and some do mid-high 30s)

Depends a lot on your size. I am 6ft, 200 lbs. my 2003 (slower due to different carb if I remember correctly) did 38 max, even with a different variator.
My 2008 could do 38 a little easier right our of the box, but anything over 40 was still unheard of, even with a tail wind.
I am sure if I was 50 lbs lighter, I could have gotten 2-3 mph more.
Just hope you don't live where there are a lot of hills.

it helps having friends that are tuning masters.. cookiemonster has a ruckus that goes over 60 and its all tuning.. variator.. carb.. intake.. exhaust.. it will pull away from me every time.. the ruckus is a slow life.. just mod it to your style and just ride WOT.. this is how mine looks now..

I ran mine bone stock when I bought it and it would hit 42-43. Adjusted the A.F.M properly and installed kitaco CDI, Dr pulley kit,stock jetting but a little slide mod and I'm good for 52 all day. 6'2 200 lbs. A little drive belt wear will significantly effect the top speed.
