I don't believe the Grom will be the Smart Car of motorcycles. To many people are wanting a little inexpensive bike with enough power to keep up with traffic. I really believe Honda has a big seller if they want to build them bad enough.

seeing that some of the major motorcycle magazines call the Grom "..the most anticipated motorcycle in years" I highly doubt this versatile little thing is going anywhere fast (pun intended)
and the smart coffin was a joint venture between a car manufacturer and a watch maker...Honda is a motorcycle company.

I remember the smart car. One pulled out in front off on my grom the other day , I said great killed by a smart car.

I love SMART cars!
I love Groms!
But may I suggest a Yaris or iQ for your parents? About the same price and mpg, possibly better reliability and resale. Bigger inside and more versitile.
My two door Yaris I call the handicapped special. Easiest car in the world to get in and and out of!

It's hard to not be concerned. Undersupply and overbidding these things will only inspire Yamaha and the rest to push to gain market shares. If they're not available, what can we do?

I had a tuned smart car years ago, full system, dump valve, remapped engine etc, it was a total blast, much faster than the brabus version, sounded like a Scooby when the dump valve hissed, I would have another, the downside of them is the standard gear shift times, they were crap, a re map changes this, I can get 120 bhp plus remaps in the UK and there worth every penny!

There is pretty much nothing good about it.
Read some reviews.
Its horribly slow, the transmission is junk, it doesnt even get good MPG for what it is.
There are farrrr better options for a small economical car if you ask me.

I sold the Smart a while back and bought an Insight. Best I could get from the FourTwo was 43mpg. I'm getting 60.6 from my Honda.
The Smart wasn't a bad car, you got used to the slow trans and sketchy handling, I like it for what it was. If I lived in a big city I'd get another.
