So, the more we ride our Grom the more we realize whatever Honda calls this "Slipper Clutch" Like function, really doesn't do much.

When we down shift quickly going into a turn, or whenever, and let out the clutch a little too fast the rear wheel locks up.

All our Big Bikes have Slipper Clutches, so it's a force of habit.
Not used to having the rear end lock up.

Any opinons ?

Rev match! If you're coming into a corner hot, blip the throttle while the clutch is in and get the R's up so the compression braking doesn't lock the tire. I had to adjust my riding style when I got my first 4 stroke mx bike after racing 125s forever!

i havent locked the rear, and ive downshifted into 1st from 40mph (out of habit from my r1) more times i want to count or admit

Rev matching while braking is one of the most fun things to do on a bike for me, kinda like heel-toe downshifting in a car.

Rev matching with a blip of the throttle is much less fun with the quiet stock exhaust. Ineed to get a pipe!
Its also something I need to remember to do after many years of slipper clutches on big bikes.

i don't see the point...
1. you can match rpm to avoid locking if you wish
2. it's great fun sliding trough corners using clutch, brakes and trottle
3. don't even have one one my big bike (1140cc) and don't miss it

Is there really a reason for it? My rear only locks when I want it to.. A solid blip does wonders as reduces wear on the clutch

I dont have a slipper clutch on my big bike so im used to rev matching. I have to agree its hard/less fun rev matching a stock grom very quiet. Cant wait to louden it up. I dont see a point to a slipper clutch. People just getting lazy?

Right now I love having the rear tire slide out till I put my new tires on them that's a different story.
