Here in CA the pumps auto shut off several times before the tank is actually full, but once the nozzle is finally immersed in gas it won't allow you to pump any more at all.

I like to do a visual and see if gas is barely covering those two bars in the filler neck. Then I know it's full.

Ah ok. So you can actually see the plate when you look down inside the tank. Ok, I haven't even opened the cover yet to see. Thanks guys! I have two bars left with 90 miles done. I'll probably fill up when there's one bar left.

side question, what do you do with the cap?! most of my other bikes in my previous experience the cap is on a hinge so it more or less stays attached, or ive seen a chain that goes into the tank with a stick so that it doesnt go that far out, ive had a carabiner clip on my key, so i clip it to my mirror, and the cap stays attached to the key, any other thoughts?
