i didnt have a measuring cup, and i bought a 1 gallon bottle of motul 10w40.

i used the dipstick to check on oil levels, i kept adding more until i got to the notch on the dipstick.

the problem is i added too much. so now what do i do?

does the grom have a overfill so the excess will leak out on its own?

I like to have an empty quart bottle on hand for that. I mean how much over are we talking here?

Pop that drain bolt and try again or just run it. A tiny bit more oil isn't going to kill anything. Might be some added windage though.

southerngrom

the dipstick stem is about 3" long

the factory tip is on 1/8".

i filled it about 3/4" past where it is suppose to be.

should i use a turkey baster or something to suck it out?

If it was me, I would just drain it all and pour it again. It only takes a few minutes so why not.

You would want to drain a bit and try to fill again. Don't want to mess up the seals.

Don't need a measuring cup, you need 1 quart of oil.

This is why I prefer a sight glass to a dip stick. Dip sticks can be hard to read...not this on particularly though. It is a little different than other bikes where the actual oil level is such a small area and so low on the dipstick. I can see someone putting way too much oil in if they don't measure. It takes a bit less than a quart. You can take a plastic disposable cup like is used for soda and mark 2 cups on the outside, then just fill that twice. 4 cups equals a quart.

I kept finding 10w40 at the local stores nobody seems to carry 10w30 locally. I running the 10w40 also do you think that will cause a issue. I ordered Honda GN4 10w30 and dont plan on running the 10w40 long.

i didnt have a measuring cup, and i bought a 1 gallon bottle of motul 10w40.
