Ouch.. ur not supposed to idle a fresh anything. It may have seized. No holding rpms period.

take the head off see if theres damage
Whats the reasoning behind not idling a fresh head/piston install? I'm looking on installed a DHM high comp piston soon.

For me idling wasnt an issue with my dhm 186cc kit. Once I finished it, filled it with oil, cranked it to get oil into the cooler, topped it off, then took off with it. No issues yet.

It is my understanding that aircooled motors need to be moving to keep cool, even long traffic lights can cause temps to climb. The extra friction and heat from the new piston/rings seating only makes the problem worse. I would recommend using a fan aimed at the motor similar to what they use at a dyno, but even that doesn't help with properly seating the rings. Constant rpm on new parts can sometimes cause things to wear funny.
