Just got my grom. I am new to riding motorcycles. My main experience was riding dirt bikes when I was a kid. Sooooooo, 20 years later I bought a grom. The main reason for buying was that I was looking at scooters for my daily commute as I get free parking at work. One day I was walking and came across a grom and was immediately excited about this as an alternative to a scooter. I feel this is a good cost alternative to $200+ for parking as well as fun. I think also it will be a nice gateway to getting a larger bike some day.

Congrats, and change the seat it will save your butt from these long rides, and get a good chain/cable lock system and lock your Grom to a poll, if I can pick up the Grom myself imagine if someone who is out to steal one with a partner and a van/truck to stuff your prized ride in their vehicle and covered the Grom up with tarp or blanket so no one knows what is in the truck etc. Been there and had my Suzuki GSXR 1100 stolen, nothing like waking up to find your motorcycle gone.

Thanks Gr0mkid89! I am taking a motorcycle riding class in the spring. Unfortunately the grom has gone right to storage because of the weather here, but that's ok it gives me time to take the class. I look forward to the mods :) I have a two brothers exhaust and the tail eliminator so far.

Thanks CiscoSanJose! Yikes I would be crushed if my new ride was stolen, thanks for the advice. I was thinking of the chain/lock as well. Have any suggestions for seats?
If money is no object than I would go with Corbin,"kind of pricey but you get life time warranty" any complaints they will fix it for you to the way you want it. Very customer orientated and motorcycle friendly people, I went to their main plant in Hollister and everyone was friendly, from the person that was sweeping the floor to the secretary, to the guy that built my seat to the shipping clerk that refunded my shipping cost since I had ordered it with shipping but they had my seat ready to go out and since I was at the Honda dealer picking up my daughter's Grom I decided to stop by Corbin and see how my seat was coming along and they said it is in shipping and ready to go out and if I wanted it they would take it back from shipping and give it to me. There were other motorcycle guys there to get their custom Harley seat made and was waiting in the customer waiting room and they went outside to take a smoke break and noticed the Grom in my truck and went over to look at it and started taking pictures of it. Price range for Corbin is average $300 custom made depending on material used. Mind was snake skin design on leather and tanned to the color scheme of the paint job I was going to use on my Grom.

For cost savings I would go with the seat kit that has a ready made cover and preform foam that you have to remove your cover and cut out your seat foam and glue this pre-form foam in and stable the seat cover to your Grom pan seat plastic. I think the price on that seat was around $125. Not sure what company that made this seat kit but if I see it posted I will up date this post with the link.

Thanks BlueRidge! New addiction is right, I am constantly looking on at the custom builds every day. It's dangerous :) Looking forward to the smile when the weather warms up.

Thanks for all the info! I am curious if the seat height is higher. I'm 6' so that would be a good thing. The snake skin is super cool! I will look into Corbin more.
