My Hotlaps will be coming soon and I was wondering if I should install a new exhaust head gasket as well?
So do you need too?
Also what are the exhaust head bolts torqued too?

Yes. Always, according to what I've read for other bikes. I'm sure they're cheap. You wouldn't want to have an exhaust leak and have to take the pipe off again. Page 2-10 of the Service Manual says to use a new one. The diagram shows what looks like a stainless steel clamp that goes around it which it says gets 15 ft. lbs. of torque. OK, the gasket I mentioned is next to the muffler. There is also a gasket next to the header that I think you are talking about. It also should be new each time you disassemble and there are 2 exhaust pipe mounting bolts holding it in place that get 20 ft. lbs. of torque. This gasket just looks like a large o-ring and sells for $4.

I did end up replacing my gasket with my new exhaust, it was only a $3 part and can be found at any honda shop.

Try taking a little tool (Craftsman makes one) that looks like an ice pick with a hooked end to remove the gasket.

In the past I've taken a similar and new Honda exhaust gasket, put it in a pair of pliers or channels locks and barely egg shape it, then install. Should not fall out and still seal fine.

Our bikes are so new, they don't need it. From my experience if its a pretty new bike or has low miles like under 5-600, replacing the gasket would only be necessary if the old one is torn or damaged

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this seemed more logical than to start a new one.

I'm currently changing my stock exhaust out for a Brock's Short Meg 2. I could not for the life of me figure out what the exhaust header gasket looked like (I was suspecting some kind of rubber o-ring), but upon searching found this thread. The part number mentioned above (18291-GC8-000) and the eBay link leads me to believe that this metal looking ring is my exhaust gasket:

This is what I'm looking at in the service manual in case someone needed clarification:

If that's the gasket, it seems to be stuck down in the exhaust port. I think I should be able to just mount the exhaust header onto the engine now, correct?

It's a 2015 w/ about 70 miles on it. Thanks in advance!
