Did more of a deep dive on wire wheels. Seems that there was an alternative to the thai built wheels. A shop in the UK called Rally-Raid Products created hubs from billet stock to fit the Grom and Monkey. They started this project back in 2018. Seem that there was lots of interest, but the main problem was that they couldn't find rims in 12-3.50 size that they liked. They did mount them to 12-2.50 rims (in the pictures), but I think they said the tire was a weird fit on that size. So, I e-mailed them and they said since they couldn't find quality 12-3.50 rims, they cancelled the project. The hubs look like a piece of art. Anybody out there know where to get rims that size? Here are their pics from 2 years ago:
Heard back from Raid-Rally. They said that they only made a few sets of hubs. When they couldn't find quality rims that they wanted, they cancelled the project. Well that sucks.
