Well, I thought it was going to happen eventually, and it did. I have the Composimo tidy tail (1st gen, before he reworked it) and the Tyga CF exhaust. It worked fine for short trips, but four hours at mostly WOT and the right rear blinker finally started to melt. It's still functional, but won't last for another long ride. Anyone out there have any suggestions in new blinkers, or a way to order the OEM lights and modify the TT so there's more clearance?

Yes, I did a full write up with photos and part numbers etc... on how to use the factory blinkers with the factory exhaust and not have the blinkers melt.

It is on here somewhere but my CP is slow and I can not find it right now.

DOT approved ??? not sure what that means.... they blink, isn't that the only requirement ?

Aluminum disfuses heat. thus why slip on mufflers are made out of Aluminum.
I could touch my Kerker after getting off the bike and waiting only a couple minutes.

D.o.t stands for department of transportation . When you see that it meens that the product meets the requirements for their standards. Function , visabillity ,longevity of product generally related to life of vehicle.

I know what DOT means. I didn't know they controlled turn signals . I never saw it on any of the packages I have bought over the last 10+ years.

I think DOT has their fingers on about everything to do with motorcycles. The ones I bought are NOT DOT approved, btw. I'm becoming rebellious against the establishment in my old age.

LOL. Again, if they work ... What else is required ? Maybe some are too small I guess , to see properly.
I used to get hassled for the flush mounts on the front of my VTR1000.

"Too small, not bright enough, not the right shape, not big enough, etc...." I'm with you. If it's visible, good enough. The people who don't pay attention just simply don't pay attention. Heck, half the people I see in cars who are turning don't signal properly, and they never get pulled over. So why give a guy on a bike a hard time because the blinkers aren't up to state spec?

OMG I know . I see dozens of cars a day that don't even bother to use their turn signals. Pisses me of when I'm there waiting to turn the other way. Also dangerous sometimes
