I notice when doing my head porting on my Takegawa 4v head that the top of the head "flat area" is pocket with craters and pit and holes and it looks like the hot gases are sneaking under the Takegawa provide gasket and pitting the head. Now I have to find a place that has copper sheets so I can make my own copper head gasket, anyone know what is the proper thickness of copper plate to use.

learned something new on a BSA forum on copper gaskets, I did not know you had to anneal copper gaskets

When you anneal copper it expands and becomes soft and pliable thus giving you a seal once the copper has been compressed. Use a Bernzomatic MAPP gas torch and heat the entire copper gasket until its "cherry red" then quickly dump it in a bucket of cold water to quench it. If your torch cannot get the entire gasket "cherry red" all at the same time, it will be fine. Just make sure that the copper head gasket at one point reaches it's hottest potential. I do not have the exact temperature in which the copper gasket should be heated to when annealing it
