Kitaco 164 Big bore kit vids

Here are a couple of videos from the unboxing of and first ride with the Kitaco 164 kit. Bike is not tuned correctly yet so I have it set running rich right now. This pull is also done on stock sprockets. So there is much room for improvement!

I will have 5 more videos up tonight of the tear down to install dowel pins and inspection of kit. Also to adjust valves per Daniel Crower Racing recomendations for his cam to .002 or .003 on intake and exhaust to help with the noise caused by the high lift cam. So stay tuned. These will be a lot more in depth.

Why's the jug in gray? Nit you'll have a zebra engine

Yes follow Daniels recommendation unless you have longer/larger valves.

Kitaco did not see it fit to paint it?? I'm not sure.
Alright, here are the in depth videos. The only thing not shown here is the jug being removed and installed and the piston and rings going on. I would have redone that if I had another cylinder to case gasket. Hope these help you guys that are looking for a little insight.

Very cool, my only question, why did you pull the cam and rocker assym out? The head comes off the same with it all intact

IIRC it's stripped of the factory powder for better cooling

I was inspecting for wear and just making sure everything was in good order. After the first couple of miles the engine was making quite a bit of noise. I now realize it was that the valve lash has to be set much tighter. Ultimately just a precaution to make sure everything would last.

Also Kitaco's does not look like a bored factory jug. It has oil ports for a cooler to hook to. Unfortunately the lines that come with the Morin are not long enough to reach. :( Look to the left of the Ngk wire where it starts to curve up and you'll see the crossover pipe they send with it.

I thought in the unpacking video I saw banjo fittings, good stuff

thank you for the video tear down and inspection and rebuild and valve adjustment. It makes it clear to me when I do my tear down. What hammer drill model where you using, it looked like a Milwaukee?

thanks again

Anyone have a link to the translated manual? I really just want to see what order the piston rings go on.
Hi,

I am looking at mild bore kits that keep the stock ECU.

How is this kit going? Was the APItech up to the job? Did you get it tuned well?

Ended up pulling the api and installing a power commander v with autotune. Cylinder still over heated and broke the ring lands, this was running the correct a/f. I found that the best combination was stock bore with cam and power commander, for longevity anyways.
