When I got it a month ago I was concerned about the long term viability of the Grom and whether or not it could replace my Honda ST1300.

I am happy to report it can!

My shock from Cogent Dynamics WORKS!

I dont need to put risers on the handlebars or lower the footpegs. It fits me out of the box!

I just got back from a 100 mile ride over three hours. I filled the tank with 125 miles on Trip A and it took ONE gallon exactly! Average speed ~ 35 mph. Tempeerature 35 degrees. I expect even more mpg if I can keep the speed to 25 mph.

SUCCESS! SUCCESS! SUCCESS!

Now its time for a rear rack, a JC Whitney knockoff Givi top box, a sharkmouth decal for the gas tank, aNd some more stuff I hanvt though of yet!

You may not need to ride it so conservatively. I get 120 mpg no matter how I ride it which in my case is basically WOT always. I pretty much ride it at 60+ mph no matter what. Its the only vehicle I have that im almost always breaking the speed limit and its coincidentally the slowest vehicle I have haha. I too absolutely love the Grom though......

i dont see all the hype about getting the highest mpgs attainable, i put gas in it, ride the pee outta it till its on e, then repeat.
I agree however, I will tell you that I do find myself getting cranky when it costs me $40-$60 to fill my cars up for a week of driving to work after riding the Grom for long periods that cost me $3.50 a week to ride haha. The Grom has successfully made me more cognizant of MPGs than ever before. I think its amazing that something so fun can cost so little. Its now my to and from work transportation.

I am not so interested in ATTAINING the highest MPG, I am more interested in what is causing such a wide variation on essentially the same machine.
Weight, altitudes, riding styles, who rides up hill more who rides down hill more etc etc
I'm 220 lbs ride mine WOT 80% of the time and over 1000 miles have an average of 99mpg highest 107 lowest was 94

What's your average speed? Wind drag has a greater effect on MPG on a bike with a fuel sipping engine like the Grom.
Average speed is usually around 50-55 WOT. Although at least 75% of my riding is right along the beach, so wind is a major factor. Sometimes the wind limits me to 50 MPH and other times it helps me cruise at 58 MPH. Didn't think about it effecting my MPG.

Right everyone has things important to them. We should all accept that.

Me I can't understand people driving cars that get only 30 mpg.

(But that;s me)

Although people liking to ride around WOT may have shorter lives....: (

Just look at Fuelly and you will see wide variations for all bikes. Part of that has to be people figuring mileage incorrectly and the error inherent in determining when a gas tank is full, hence the bell-shaped curve. Your mileage should be right in the middle of all those crazy numbers set up as a bar graph and you just ignore the high and low numbers. 106 mpg seems to be the magic number.
