Definitely, all over.

It really seems to wake it up all throughout the power range and you can really hear the motor a lot better...my brother thought I changed the exhaust, its that noticable.

As far as top end power, it has to help...its like running an open TB and I would imagine combined with exhaust it would really run well.

I know one guy said he was doing 66 mph flat ground, sitting up with the KN and an exhaust system.

Cruising today with a 13t and just the KN my bike was doing 70-71 which is probably 63-64 mph cruising speed with that gear i have in there.

Why keep the airbox?
Why keep the airbox?
pretty sure it is used for support for other things otherwise I would ditch it
Not to be a voice of doom but....

KN air filters are 95% efficient. A good regular air filter (paper) is 99% efficient. Thus the KN filter passes four times the dirt into your engine. Paper elements give almost perfect air filtration. The KN....not so much.

Also, KN filters are known for the oil fouling things like the MAF sensor downstream of the filter.

Again, not to be a bummer but....

That's probably because they flow more.

Did you have a stock air box previous to this or were you running an air box mod? I currently have my air box modded and want to see if i should expect similar results after installing the k and n.

2004 Honda 919
1978 Triumph Tiger
1989 Honda GL15 ( A work in progress...)
2014 Honda Grom ( Soon to come)
I had the air box mod. Wasn't as good. Even open air box wasn't any bettet

Any documentation to support this?

I will look for some but I think if you read KN's specs youll find the 95% figure. The 99% figure for paper air filters is industry standard. Oiled foam is another story!

The excess oil gumming up the MAF I have seen myself. Maybe if you dont put too much oil it wont happen? I guess if you know about the possibility you can just carefully clean the two fine platinum wires with brake cleaner. Thats what I did. Course if you break the wires doing it...
it only gums up the MAF if OVER oiled.
Yea, considering theres a handful of guys running open TB with no issues I think the KN's 95% is just fine lol.

Like I said, the KN may be less but thats because it flow better....millions of people run KN filters without issue and will continue to run them.
The K&N R-1100 comes with a small packet of oil so you can't really over oil it, at least not with the quantity they provide. Even if the 95% figure is true, this is not a pitbike that you would normally ride in really dusty dirty locations and where I live it is of no concern. The main disadvantage is our PCV and charcoal canister no longer vents into and gets sucked into the air box like it would stock. I will also be making a mod so that will work too. I just drilled an 8mm hole directly into the end cap of the K&N filter and two 4mm holes for the flange and mounted the IAT there, it looks nice and clean that way and reads the correct air temp as well. I'm going to make a mount to replace the stock airbox that will still support the side panels. There will be lots of room there for an oil cooler later.
Anyone know how much a new factory AF is?

The OM says its good for 10,000 miles...

I thought someone had found it and it was like 9 bucks or something really cheap.

My KN is good for life :)
