I know this has been covered ad nauseum, but I feel like I'd be doing the community a disservice by not writing a quick review on these things. Holy mother of god it feels like a completely different bike, and not just in the turns either. It rides smoother, it's much more confident under heavy braking and oh my god when it's leaned over in a turn it 300% more confident.
Absolutely amazing. At $95 for a set of these you'd be insane not to buy a set. I've been a 4-wheel gearhead for 15 years and I think this is hands-down the best tire purchase I've ever made in my life. I only have about 150 miles on them so far so they're just broken in, but I had a chance to take it out and really push hard hard on some curvy back roads last night, and as you can see from my lack of chicken strips I had NO problem getting it all way over comfortably.

Go buy these tires if you havent already. You'll thank me.

The stockers do suck.. I was running through sprinkler runoff last night and it'd make the rear brake useless so every time id stop at a red light id do a quick burnout to dry it off

Great excuse to do a burnout everytime you stopped!

imma get some once the stock veee rubber wears down

tbh i dont have an issue with the oem rubber, in fact today i rode it to work in heavy misty fog, still rode it like i stole it

dont think ill ever have a problem with 7-10 hp, 12inch rims and high leverage handlebars

now when the front end twitches hardcore midapex on a goaty road because the suspension bottoms out - now that shit is scary as fuck. That is my #1 concern right now.

The thing is, I think what makes the grom fun is its low performance. Sure the Michelins are technically superior in every way but I think there's some merit to the idea that riding a bike that can get loose cornering at legal city speeds and do skid-turns on a whim is more fun (more fun riding a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow).

If you're often riding in the wet the vees are probably terrifying (which is certainly NOT fun!) or if you're trying to go extra fast sure get the Michelins now but I'm waiting until the edges of my stock rubber start showing cords. Just my $0.02.

+1. Same reason they put pizza cutters on the Scion FR-S, so you could get it loose without 250+ HP. That being said, it's obviously way sketchier to drift on a bike than in a car, but I think there is some merit to matching low performance tires to a low performance bike.... except in rain:witless:

I'm in the same boat. They aren't terrible enough for me to basically throw away.

It's been cold here recently (4-7ºC) in the morning and I've been getting good at backing it into the off ramp on the way to work lol.

I certainly won't be reordering the Vees but I'll get some wear out of them first.

So I wasn't convinced the Vee Rubber tires totally sucked until yesterday where I fishtailed (in the rain) twice. First time braking in a straight line, not that bad honestly. My second time was out of a turn, and to be honest I'm lucky the tire finally caught into my lean and I didn't crash. And I ride my bike in the rain slow and careful like I'm Mr. Rogers. Never had such a crappy tire ever.

I'm thinking of upgrading to Michelins at the rear - either Power Pure or City Grip. Anybody tried City Grip? Also do you think I need to replace the front too? Before I always replaced my tires as needed, one at a time.

Only $98 for the pair. I replaced both just to be safe.
