For those of you who have done a HID install, what is your idle voltage? I'm using a 35W ballast and my voltage at idle dips to 11.9v. the grom is ridden almost daily so the battery should be good. i'm currently doing a trickle charge overnight to see if that helps.

I have had a hid for a months and no charging problems I have not charged it once, my voltages is the same at idle .. , and its been riden almost every day... As long as you don't idle the bike for hours you will be fine ( actually drained battery longtime ago tuning and idling a lot ,I had to bump start the bike but with a mile down the road was already charged enough by the stator to start the bike). As soon as you rev the bike the voltage should go up.

my voltage does start to increase above 3000 rpm and eventually surpasses 14v. just not sure if the low idle voltage is normal or if i have a fault somewhere.

Where are you tapping the Hot voltage from, the rear tail light HOT wire or ??????

taping switched 12v from the rear tail light which triggers a time delayed relay. the relay is wired to the battery (fused) for it's source of power.

btw, i'm measuring the voltage across the battery terminals.

You are over thinking this, i bet your grom is 100% fine....... if the battery dies which it "WONT" then i would worry about this...... Just ride the grom like you stole it and dont sweat the small stuff.....

my double led bars also i believe have a high draw... i have unplugged the relay during the daytime, and hadn't needed to charge my battery at night.

the days i leave the relay connected so that my headlight is ON, if i dont trickle charge it overnight, within 2-3 days... i will be bump starting my grom.

annoying, and i haven't figure out a way to fix it
