Did my valves today at 580 miles and a full oil change. I did my first spinner cleaning at 240 and now at the 600 maintenance.. I had about 5 or so big finger scoops of gunk in the spinner area. Thick dark oil with small particle crap in it. Is this normal?

I am not familiar with oil spinners. Bike runs great, 0 mechanical issues except the tranny shifting weird sometimes that everyone experiences. I rarely redline it.

Thanks for any help.

Probably normal , probably break in material. The spinner is this bikes oil filter , it will catch small particles . how was the pickup screen??? As long as you dont see chunks of silver , bike will probably be fine. How's your clutch cable free play. Make sure its adjusted right and not to tight causing clutch slip

Im using honda GN4. The screen only had a couple particles, nothing like the 240 change which was the main break in cleaning.

The clutch seems to have the necessary free play. Maybe il lengthen it but I dont think I need to.

Yallknowme, what did your spinner look like at 670?

Sorta what mine looked like. I didnt run mine at all before the oil change so it had 0 heat. So maybe it seemed thicker then it was. Id say it was about 1/4 inch worth of thick oil with silver in it. But just sitting in the bottom back of the spinner.

It's so easy to do that I feel no need to wait 5,000 regardless of recommendations. Can it really hurt to clean it early? Of course not. I was already in there replacing it with the JC Racing lightened spinner, but I would recommend wiping it down sooner rather than later.
