Once we figure out the forks I'll buy this!

Wow this is a bargain. I almost pulled the trigger but decided to ride my grom first, just about a month.

Isn't the Ohlin's only about another hundred or so more?

Nothing against YSS but if they end up being that close in price range I'd splurge for the proven quality etc. I'm really anxious to see what's going on with the forks though.

Tyga has even posted saying the fork couldn't be opened, honda seems to have taken a strange route with them, I think someone is going to end up producing an aftermarket set.. Which could work out though if the bodies are one size you'd be able to slide them up vs losing travel to lower it

What are you going to pre-load if there is no spring in the fork?

There is a spring in there... there has to be... it is just not accessible in the way it would be in pretty much every other fork setup out there. Honda did a really good job with this front end to try to keep us from not only easily lowering the forks, but also to keep us from being able to modify them by adjusting valving or playing with spring rates, etc... Also the sizes of the OD of the fork tubes are very odd, so finding a simple easy to swap-out replacement from some other bike is not likely either.

But not to worry, good minds are "on it"... lol!

Good to hear from both TYGA and Composimo about the forks. Froggie, the YSS shock has hight adjustment while the Ohlins does not. For me that's a huge factor. I want that adjustment, I may only use it once but I like to know I have it. as for the YSS being 200 bucks cheaper that's great that's Two sets of good tires.

I believe in a balanced moto so I'll wait on big suspension upgrades untill our friendly vendors come up with a solution for tuning the fork.

I ment the chrome body, not the "fork" entirely, my apologies.. Unless the chrome can be dismantled as well in which ill just stop talking now :nerd:

I've had the sense that the fork legs and seat were the weak points of this bike. Seating is easy enough to change, to the point of being a non-issue. The fork legs may prove to be an Achilles Heel, if preload & "oil-tuning" can't do the job. IMO, 3.9" a travel is kinda short for the applciation; I'd expect at least another inch.

Still, all it'd take is a set of custom trees and a caliper bracket...voila!...take your pick of world-class inverted fork legs - maybe even a pair of those hard-to-find YSS adjustables for the KSR.

Im sure there will be a cost effective way to set up the forks soon. We have to be patient. We are learning by having to wait till August for our Groms.

I'm a big fan of cost effective, it'll never see a track or anything more than the occasional back road corners on the weekend so dropping big coin on a new front end isn't on my radar

Biggest downside to getting our Grom info so early is having to sit on our hands for 3 months and do nothin but ask questions.. Is it August yet

This is very encouraging. Especially since it comes from a guy that A) is know to make quality parts and B) currently has an MSX to play with.

Paul of Tyga is checking on the YSS rebuild kit. The reply from the YSS distributor in the us is yes they are rebuildable. Seal kits are avaiable.

if i were to get it and the yoshi r-9 full carbon pipe. i have spent 1/3 of the price of the grom on accs. is that normal?

well i did have my slide melted, added a trijicon rmr 07 w/ cowitness BUIS, and then had my grips reduced, beavertail added, and a med palm swell. all that cost more than the glock 27 i carry daily.

I have already spent more than a 1/3 the price of my msx on upgrades and when I'm done I'll have spend as much on aftermarket parts as the whole bike costed. This is not uncommon with mini bikes.

Im getting there. I'm very likely to get that YSS shock over the ohlins. I also want a few more dress up items.
