Was planning to ride the Grom to work tomorrow, so I was scoping out some spots where I could safely stash it and keep an eye on it. I realized it was pretty gusty at the side of the building where I want to park (25mph+ today easy) and it got me thinking... This bike is very light, just how much would it take to blow this thing over???

Anyone come out to a Grom down on a windy day? Or am I the only one who worries about stupid stuff like this?

I have the 2" drop and stock kickstand, and (*knocks on wood*) I haven't had any issues. I also will park the bike so the kickstand side is slightly more downhill to put more pressure on the kickstand and lessen the likelihood that the wind will push it over. We have had some pretty wicked wind storms since I bought my bike.

I've taken it to work on two different times with winds at 15-20mph and gusts up to 40mph. First time I was paranoid just as you were, but I haven't had any issues. Just park with the kickstand on the correct side, and it should be okay.

I will say having a wind break like another vehicle or motorcycle to park next to helps. Our parking lot is not right next to our building, but some places you have to be careful with how the building affects the wind on certain sides of the building as the wind speed can increase or blow a different direction than if away from the building.

Thanks for the info. Our buildings here are curved and sit in a big open field so they seem to funnel the wind gusts really bad exactly where I want to park (of course). But there is a perfect bastard spot at the end of the row not big enough for a car so they stuck a tree there, that I can chain to and see it from my window. Hopefully she stays upright...

Ratchet strap it to the tree, now you're worry free!
