Ive played with gearing alot on my grom and heres what i found.-1 on the front sprocket is a great idea. I tried a 35 and a 36 tooth rear and couldnt stand either. It made its quicker off start but killed my topend and put me into redline easily. Im happiest with -1 and stock rear sprocket.

Side note why so many ppl complain about vee rubber tires? Ive never had a problem and was hitting corners pretty hard tonight at a running track at a local park

-1 gets it to rev out fourth making it faster all the way to redline. From there you have to decide if you want more topend or wheelies. Changing rear sprocket has a major affect on topend. Unless you dont mind cruising at redline everywhere

going down a tooth in the front will have almost the same effect as going up a couple teeth in the rear on most bikes a -1 is the same as going +3 in the rear the only real difference you will notice between the 2 is price and in most cases going with a smaller front sprocket will lower your chain down on the chain guide on the top of the swingarm and cause it to wear

I had a -1 on the front but I want to get more speed than that. So I decided to go with a +2 rear and stock front. So in theory, I should have a higher ratio than stock gearing giving me just a little more usable power than stock. I have not been able to ride the bike yet though.

My stocker came with a +2, bought it slightly used. It was too much for me. 1-3 were pointless gears. I did a 140 rear tire and put the stock sprocket back on, this is below stock bc of the tire. 3rd gear was very useable then. But my top end pull and speed was low. Now I have a +1 rear with the 140 and it feels perfect for me. Pull all around and 3rd is still useable.

I put the -1 F sprocket on yesterday, pulls a little better now but it's not as noticeable as I was expecting it to be .
you notice most riding 2 up or low rpm pulls in 3rd and 4th, I went back to stock gearing from -1 front because losing 5mph wasn't my thing, I could wrap 76 on the indicater
