Well as most of you know I'm going through a battle with liver bile duct cancer. I have two more weeks of chemo than a break for a couple weeks. My best friend suggested that we should ride our groms from Pittsburgh to the Cali cost. He said he would pay for everything! To bad it's short notice or I would contact Honda and see if they could help with minor support like a few oil changes along the way. My biggest concern would be gas. We would need rear racks to carry gas cans incase we hit a spot that was longer than 100 miles between gas stations. If we do this, where in cali should we go? We would love to meet up and ride with as many people along the way and when we get there as possible. I'm also concerned about putting that many miles on the grom so fast. We would probably rent a uhaul on the way home or see about shipping them back and flying. It would be something that I would never forget! To bad Honda wouldn't exchange mine for a new one when we were done! This is something that would start in two-three weeks if we do it. Any input??? Life is short and it's always been a dream to ride to cali and why not on a grom!

Just do it. Stay off the freeways as much as possible. Go easy and SEE the country!

A couple of MSR fuel bottles should put your fuel fears to rest. Roto Pax makes an unique product for hauling fuel too.

Froggs Toggs work good in the rain too.

If you can afford it, look into a custom tank to hold maybe another gallon or 2. A local fab shop might be willing or see if you can get support from anyone on here, maybe you can stop a long the way and have them install a custom tank.

Dam I wish I could send my Grom out to the East coast I would have done it with you guys, it will be a ride of a life time. I have animals, two dogs, two parrots and a college daughter who I have to care for. Don't ask me about my daughter taking care of stuff, some kids now days don't know what sharing, helping out and other stuff that is normal for most Hawaiian family.

Gopro camera records everything and extra batteries. Check with Gopro if they would sponcer a camera and batteries for your trip. They have first crack to document your trip.

Do it! I planned a trip from Santa Cruz to LA to make it to this year's Super Sunday. Look it up! It's a huge ride in Los Angeles on the 27th of this month. If you can make it there it would be riding with dozens and dozens of scooters and small cc bikes. It will be a group ride you will never forget!

we will definitely organize a big meet up with you once you hit LA.... there's a ton of "grommers" here in So. Cal. and it would be reason enough to get a big group gathering to celebrate your arrival from such a long trip. Good luck and we look forward to your updates once you're on your way.....

I'm 100% in as long as I'm feeling up to it. In two weeks I will get a break from chemo and this is something that I would remember if I live 1 year or 40 years. I will keep everything updated as it gets closer. It would be awesome to meet as many of you as possible
