Tried to find the best answer searching the forums, but feel I may need some more clear input with this.

Currently installed a few performance mods for my 2018 Grom ABS and looking at my next step either being the Super Stock kit or 143cc BBK. I'm trying to figure out which offers the best bang for the buck but don't mind adding an additional part or two along with the install kit to get desired results. Is there a preference here for either or does one clearly shine over the other for its price point? Thanks!

HR sold Finbro 183 with their custom made JE piston and had min problems and I have run 183-2v and so have others with min issues.

The main issue is having the correct A/F and mapping and knowing what you are doing.

A lot of members and new members see failures in certain brand BBK kit but they do not know the story behind what the user of this blown engine have done or did not do correctly which caused failures.

I think I'm one of the few since 2014 that post real issues and problems and what I found, what I melted, what blew up, etc.

Always take posting on here with a grain of salt.

Things happen and shit blows up with BBK kit. We live and learn and improve.

If you pay attention to old posting and follow up to the latest you will learn what sort of works and what don't.

Remember not everyone is a expert on here, we are all here to learn and advance the product which is called the grom.

We already seen that the grom can cross the USA via Freeways, byways and country roads and also on dirt roads. The Honda 125cc engine is a proven little engine that can.

I really do appreciate the feedback from everyone so far. I'm new to the whole thing but feel like I've spent a fair amount of time lately looking through forums posts to help me get to where I am now and knowing that a lot here are trying to improve their ride's performance as much as me while offering detailed first-hand feedback keeps me coming back and taking everything into consideration.

I choose Kitaco 181 light kit, because this cylinder is not a re-sleeved OE one, it is made from all new, with nicasil coated inner surface. Many people say go 164 because the wall on the camchain side becomes thin. I checked my 181 kitaco cylinder, the wall is in different shape, it's made wider there, unlike Finbro 183 did just re-sleeved OE cylinders. So I do recommend 181 Kitaco light bore kit!
With 181cc top speed will stay the same, but low-mid kick of this engine will make you smile! 99% of the time I drive my grom in the city, in trafficlights, stop-and-go all the time. So low-to-mid rpms is the zone I have to stay most of the time.

If you ride your grom mostly on long straights kind a highways, 4th gear full throttle 60mph all the time, you don't need these light bbk kits. Or go all the money for Takegawa 4V or a Kitaco NEO.

p.s. Imho, The only part from Finbro people can use is their ECU, actually it's a Honda CBR150 Keihin ECU.

Interesting. I was surprised to read that, as I would have thought that the extra displacement would have allowed the engine to turn higher revs in fourth gear.....meaning higher top speed.

It can't turn higher revs because the stock head can't flow enough. However, you could gear the bike tall (like 16/32) and cruise on the freeway at much more comfortable rpm. And the pickup from a stoplight will be 100% more awesome.

I have a 181cc, but with a big valve head, and I'm only at around 30% throttle to cruise at 60mph.
