Feeler: Red Grom, lightly modded - Atlanta Ga

I am considering selling my beloved (and flawless) Valentine Red Grom and bumping up to a Triumph ST-R.

Here's the info:

2014 Honda Grom, Valentine Red
1540 miles
Nothing but 93 octane Chevron has been in the engine
Approximately 10.5 months of Honda factory warranty remain
Asking price is $4,000. Price is negotiable if you have cash in hand, but dont even waste your time emailing me to tell me that MSRP is $3,000. There is a 6 month wait and most dealerships are charging over $4,200 out the door for a stock Grom.

Emails forward directly to my phone and I respond promptly. [email protected]

Service;
  • 20 miles - Oil change with conventional 10w30 (preferable for engine break-in)
  • 60 miles - Oil chnage with conventional 10w30 (I'm a little obsessive-compulsive about maintenance and I manage an exotic car repair shop, so its easy to do)
  • 250 miles - Oil change with Shell Rotella full synthetic (It's bad ass oil and it's up to spec for wet clutches etc.. Do the research before you assume diesel truck oil shouldnt go into a gasoline engine)
  • 500 miles - Oil change with Shell Rotella full synthetic
  • 1500 miles - Oil change with Rotella
  • Chain has been lubricated regularly with Motul synthetic chain lube
  • It's getting a valve adjustment over the weekend
  • It's also been kept very clean and waxed since day 1. (It was pretty dirty when I bought it, and didnt have ANY wax on the paint. WTF, Honda?)

Mods;

  • Yoshimura fender eliminator with LED tail light lens. It was pricey, but I think it's the best looking one on the market right now and it works well with their exhaust, which I plan on buying if I keep the bike. Also, I soldered the wires to the LED tag light and re-wrapped the wiring harness instead of using the shitty butt connector thing that came in kit. Like I said, I'm a little OCD. You cant tell anything was ever touched in the wiring by looking at it.
  • Seat strap removal/added washers to the seat so that it opens properly.
  • Modded airbox with K&N cone filter. I can relocate the filter to the throttle body like everyone else is running if you prefer. I like it better in the airbox.
  • Michelin Power Pure SC tires. They have less than 200 miles on them, and no burn-outs or dumb shit. They're brand spanking new. (They are bad ass. If you buy a used Grom make sure it has these already)
  • Vintage gold plasti-dip on the front blinker brackets and round covers in the fairings. It looks very good and matches the forks closely, however I'd be happy to peel it off and put the bike back to stock if you like.
  • 3M Scotchlite red reflective wheel tape (one minor imperfection on the front wheel from re-mounting it after the tires were swapped. Easily coverable though.
  • Custom-attached small tank bag. It's not easily removable because it's strapped under the fairings, but I can take it off if you want. I find it very useful.

You will also receive the stock rear fender assembly and tag light, along with every nut and bolt that came on the bike. I have been meticulous about keeping everything.

Now.. I'm not selling this bike because there is anything wrong with it. I bought it to learn to ride motorcycles on, until I was comfortable bumping up to a bigger bike and I think I'm there. I learned quicker than I expected. I LOVE this Grom, and if it was feasible for me to own a BMW a Honda and a Triumph I'd keep it. I simply do not have the parking.

I did the same at Mountain Motorsports. I really dont expect to get $4k out of it, but I'm just trying to cut down on the typical craigslist bullshit. My email is still blowing up with idiots making stupid offers. The first person that makes me a reasonable offer with cash in hand is going to own this bike and then I'll be off to the Triumph dealer.

You should keep it until they're worth $17k or New World Order-- whichever happens first. Small nimble bike that runs on 1 gallon of gas or an alcoholic's urine will come in handy when SHTF-- especially in Atlanta. Think Mad Max Thunderdome, but with mini bikes and no Tina Turner soundtrack. Just something to think about before selling. I'm hedging my bets and keeping this little bike close. I'm also saving my urine in jars.
