I know a lot of Monkey owners are a little disappointed on how short the mirror stalks are. I get tired of looking at my shoulders every time I want to see behind me. I don't particularly like the aftermarket billet extenders. While plowing through Amazon looking for MC mirrors that might be a fit for my project, I found a set that worked. Same diameter but 5cm longer than the factory stalks. The plan was to have a local welder cut the ball off the factory stalk and weld it to the aftermarket stalk. I also asked him to bend down the stalks about 3cm to get a little bit more outward extension. I know this seems a bit overkill, but I wanted the factory look. The aftermarket set comes with clockwise/counter clockwise adaptors. Apparently the stalks are threaded differently. This made my brain hurt trying to find the right combination that screwed in properly. The factory mirrors are all threaded the same both sides. To make the aftermarket set work on the clutch side, I had to remove the factory base bolt/nut and screw in the adaptor, then screw on the stalk and then use the aftermarket bolt to tighten it into place. It might look awkward, but the little rubber boot covers it all up. On the brake side, the stalk had a counter thread. The adapter bolt wouldn't work and the factory nut/bolt wouldn't work either. The only way to get the stalk on was to screw it directly into the base making the mirror a few mm's lower than the other side.

The aftermarket mirrors are very good quality and don't look cheap at all. I could have saved the welding hassle and used them right out of the box, but I wanted the factory look. Here's the link:

Today I found out that Super Cub mirrors are about an inch longer than Monkey mirrors. I thought they would all be the same. My mod is about 1 3/4" longer. If I had to do it again, I'd probably get the Cub mirrors with the small improvement over going the trouble modifying my set.

Thanks for all the info. I decided to upgrade mine using your amazon link. The short factory monkey mirrors are not safe. Hope it works out for me with the thread size and length.

I'll DM you about the mirrors. They are pretty good as-is, but might be a little too much trouble to convert to the factory look. There also an install problem to figure out.

The view of mirrors is not just a Monkey issue, it is almost EVERY motorcycle. Literally almost all motorcycle mirrors primarily show the rider's arm if you don't reposition your body and/head. Lol. It sucks, but it is life. Like yourself, I also try to maintain a factory mirror look on all of my motorcycles. It just seems to look best.

Finally a decent day to ride and check out the mirrors. What a difference 2" makes. What was 60% shoulder blockage in the mirrors is now less than 20%. I don't have to pull back to look or tilt my head anymore. One of the better mods I've done to the bike.

I bent my stock mirror stalks horizontal so I could see behind me past my shoulders. :)

I also put a convex mirror on the left side to see behind me even better.
Now that's a great idea especially with the convex mirror. I'm wondering if your bars also makes a difference? What is the total length from end to end? I'll measure mine tomorrow.

The clip on bars were slightly more narrow than the stock bars (about an inch), just a lot lower. Sorry, I can't measure as I sold my Grom. I still post here because I'm a Grom fan. :)

I liked the Grom mirrors with the bent stalks so much, I put them on my klx.
