So I just bought a 2018 Honda Grom and I have began modding.
First things first I wanted to get a high-mount FMF exhaust and a Chimera Intake.
I will most likely end up getting the Aracer RC Mini Plus2 ECU.
My question is, should I buy the FMF from steady garage and have them weld the O2 sensor on?
Is it needed for the Aracer?
I found the FMF for 300$ on a different site with no O2 sensor option. On steady garage the FMF is 345$ plus 50$ for the welded O2 sensor.
Getting the O2 sensor would cost about 100$ more.
Let me know your thoughts.

I would buy items that will benefit you in the future meaning buy a pipe, F/I, throttle body, etc that will help your build.

As for the ARacer mini 2+ you are making a good choice since it uses the CL 02 sensor. The WB02 OL "Open Loop" sensor uses the bung on the exhaust pipe for autotune. You will need the bung on the exhaust port to use a A/F mixture for the OL circuit. There is also a A/F gauge for C/L reading but I was told it is not as stable as the OL sensor gauge on the exhaust pipe.

What I like about the Aracer mini2+ is that you get a slick like LCD unit that you can adjust the various variables of tuning your grom plus you can see the RPM's and also see what the A/F mixture is like.

Buying any hardware is your choice and it is best to search the internet or this forum for topics on the hardware you're thinking of buying and see what review that the poster has experience with it.

If you do your search of 02 sensors we "old timer grom owners" have found sensors that are the same as the grom uses for cheaper than the $100 unit you posted unless it came with the gauge "A/F meter".

If you go with Aracer mini2+ their autotune is called the AF1 which works really good and for A/F monitoring they have the DG1 unit. They are pricey but worth the money if you are thinking in the future of going BBK kit such as a super head kit or 183-2v kit or Koso 170-4v or Takegawa 181-4v kit or the newer up coming FatherZ 210 kit.

Choosing the right kit for the future build will save you money if you already have the basic hardware such as upgrade clutch, upgrade oil pump, upgraded oil filter, etc.

Speed cost money. Good luck

Take this from a long time grom owner & a newbie to heavy mods.

I had 14 with a FMF pipe & light filter mods, otherwise stock. If you are not going to go further than that I think the FMF is a fine choice. Pro Circuit also made pipes for the OG Groms. No longer available. Also a good choice if you are turning the Grom into a dirt bike.

If you think that you have plans in the future for heavier mods, not a good choice. Header pipe is too small of a diameter for optimum exhaust flow. Plus, no bung.

From What I have read, Hindle is an excellent choice. And it has a bung. YMMV...

I def recommend getting the o2 bung if your future plans are to build up a BBK... it will save you from having to buy another exhaust, or have a bung welded in the long run. Like already stated if your going to stay simple with typical intake, exhaust then no need for o2 bung. Back when I purchased my Yoshi rs-9 I wished I had considered the BBK route as I had to weld in the bung.
