So last night I spent some time considering what I wanted to use some of my left over di noc on to help accent the grom. I finalized on the lower portion of the gauge cluster, the shape was a bit difficult but I think it came out really well. If you haven't heard of di noc it is a vinyl product from 3M and is nothing short of amazing. I'm not a high fan of unnecessary weight added when using carbon fiber cover pieces, but with di noc you get the aesthetics of dry carbon but none of the weight. Anyways here some pics let me know what you think.

He is talking about carbon fiber pieces that are made to cover oem pieces.

Sent from the refrigerator using HondaGrom.net mobile app.
Ah gotcha
Well just for people's information, the Tyga carbon fiber parts are mostly single layer, except for the parts where its structurally critical.
If I had to guess i'd say they were made from pre-preg sheets

A single layer of fiber is typically 0.010" thick, 0.070" for typical uni fiber. I doubt the parts are that thin. I imagine the Tyga parts have a clear coat on them too. Has anyone weighed the carbon panels to see if they are actually lighter than the plastic?

Carbon parts on Grom are only supposed to look cool.... Right?

Cluster looks cool man!

A LOT of "carbon fiber" isn't CARBON FIBER ... especially if it's cheap.

Real carbon fiber like what's on my Aprilia AF1 Racing : Aprilia Parts and Accessories: Carbon Fiber Top Fairing Wind Deflectors - PAIR - is the real deal. Weighs as much as a feather and the cost is reflective of that. So be careful treading on the line of "carbon fiber" because, even the TYGA stuff (from what I've seen) isn't quality. THIS IS MY OPINION and I'm sure it's good quality stuff and Paul seems super legit, but I won't pay $1 for something "carbon fiber" when it's not really REAL carbon.

BTW that 3M stuff looks super legit, where'd you pick it up?

I purchased it from a vendor on eBay about 2years ago when I wrap the dash in the Rx-7. As far as our vendors my intent is not to bash there products. Some people really like the wet carbon fiber look and they aren't worried if some of those parts are purely cosmetic. Becuase I weigh around 250 I don't have the luxury to add parts that increase weight. I understand that with the size of the bike that there is only so much weight you can reduce. And I don't think a company would spend the time to make all dry carbon fairings since the weight savings wouldnt be worth the price. Again thanks for the comments

the tyga front fender is definitely lighter. i have the tank cover, speedo surround, and side plug covers. You are correct. all are covers except the fender and lower faring.
i have lots of their stuff. TOP NOTCH. Cheap or reasonable price doesnt mean garbage...............

all of my carbon im sure i added a pound or 2. If your worried about adding that little amount of weight to this bike your a retard.

Nothing wrong with the carbonlook sticker and picked some up at our Moto2 Team that we are sponsoring at the Malaysian GP last weekend. They use it for covering up after small scrapes and you' can't tell on TV it is not the real thing. It is a super trick gloss finish from Italy with special structure so it doesn't get bubbles. Funny thing is, it actually costs more per meter than a carbon 200 gram fabric!

Anyway, regarding TYGA carbon parts adding to weight, I can see the issue in theory but try weighing the entire range and it is going make a lot less difference than if you went to the bathroom before you rode or not, and I doubt anyone does that specifically to save weight when they are riding. We make a few other products which replace the plastic and most will weigh less than the parts they replace, especially the Monster front fender which weigh less than half. If you install a Tyga exhaust instead of the stock Honda one, then you've saved your Grom so much weight, you won't need to feel guilty at all and worry about the weight of the carbon covers or going to the bathroom either ;)
