I noticed while changing my oil that changing the clutch springs is only 3 more bolts, replace springs, and torque them back down. Is there any reason why I shouldnt do this? Im used to tight clutch sport bikes and the slop in this grom drives me nuts. For those that have changed theirs, was it worth the $10 and 5 minutes while you were in the case?

I changed mine. didnt notice a thing.

What slop? you mean the fact that the clutch engagement/disengagement is only a small portion of the entire travel of the lever? Blame the lever for having the clutch cable hole so far away from the pivot point.

yea the clutch travel and engagement is so far opposite of what Im used to. I put levers on and adjusted the clutch cable but Im still looking for that sweet spot. I like the engagement right off the grips. Maybe I can do some more adjusting and find the spot Im looking for. I've never messed with springs in a bike. I know the travel wont change but the engagement should be firmed up with a stiffer spring.

EBC springs aren't worth it, there's almost no difference. I'm using MSR stiff springs + billet plate. Kitaco might be a good choice too.

I was looking for more positive engagement. Stock Grom clutch is sloppy and vague as hell. This along with an RSC lever helps a lot.

For stock engine power, not necessary but nice. For 180+cc bore kits with a head it is a necessity. I went with the kitaco 60% stiffer, you can use only three of the springs if you like.
Did you bore it out? I’m 15 I got a grom Sunday and it was my first actual motorcycle (legally) after coming from a history of riding 250 2t and 4t and a 125 2t and obvioisly theres a power differenc, however i just dislike the delay in the shifting/how the clutch is sloppy. I can’t shift at higher rpms without having to hold in the clutch for a sec to shift (in comparison to quick shifting on a dirt bike). I have a stock engine but I’m looking to try and restore this and make it feel a bit more grabby and was wondering if you used the stiffer springs because you bored it out or you were just talking about that. Thanks for the help
