Is that the same 500 that's used in the CB500x, CB500f, etc?
If it is, that's a fantastic motor.

Or a wrecked CB500F or CB500X. All share the same motor (I googled it).Oh and I will be making a build thread. I'm just trying to find a wrecked cbr500. Any suggestions
Yeah. The new 300 is actually 283 I think. For the 250 version there's a few BBK's out, a 283, and a couple 305's. Also, if someone else is considering the CBR250, a wrecked CRF250L will work as well. The CRF250L uses same motor and tranny as the CBR250. The CRF's powerband is different, but it's the same motor. The cbr300 would be a great build, if I were to do it over I would get the later model 300- same cases, more power
I wouldn't use that engine anyways. When I bought my CB, I was actually looking at two other bikes first, the NC700X and the CB500F or CB500x (the two 500's are the same, just look different). I finally decided on the 500F because the engine was so much better. The 700 is super typical Honda. Good motor but super boring. No liveliness. So I decided on one of the 500's, the F in particular for appearance, and marched down to buy it. Walked out with a CB1000R instead lol. All that research for nothing lol. But that new 500 is a great motor from Honda. Any of those 500's (CBR, F, or X) are good bikes. There's already a couple CRF250L's with the 500 swap out there. Probably CBR's too (CRF250L and CBR250 share same motor/tranny) but I followed the CRF because that's what I had.An also two cylinder 670cc (from an NC700) engine uses a single throttle body and a single exhaust header (these are joined together in the cylinder head) - and the cylinder positioning is a lot closer to the original grom engine (almost flat, 62 degree forward leaning) also.
On the other hand it is even heavier than the CB500 motor- although I could not wind exact values.
Fantastic bike! You'll be happy with it. Very lively and spunky engine. A friend of mine JUST bought one a few days ago. One thing I do like about the NC700X is the "under tank" storage though. Huge storage under the faux tank. The 500x does not have that.I myself actually considering to buy a CB500x -
