Hi lkwan78.

Even though I'm from the Houston area (Rosenberg), I'll be spending most of my "fun" time in the Austin area so I decided to reserve one there. I've actually got a refundable deposit down for a red Grom at two different dealers; $500 at Woods Fun Center/Austin and $100 at Kent Motorsports in Kyle. I may be canceling with Woods Fun Center since they have not returned 2 phone call messages or responded to an email asking for the out the door price. I really liked the salesman there, but now that they've got my $500, they aren't providing the level of communication/customer service I expect. Not a good sign to be starting off by being stonewalled about price and ignored as to returning phone messages & an email. I'm not canceling with them yet; my brother may want to "take my slot" and switch to a black one, although at this point I prefer to do business with Kent Motorsports in Klye, which is about a half hour south of Woods Fun Center on IH 35. Another plus to doing business at Kent MS; Cabella's outdoor sports superstore is nearby! I'll hang out at Cabella's enjoying their museum quality display of taxidermied (is that a real word?) game from around the world while I wait to have the accessories I provide installed.

The manager at Kent MS (Barry Barber) has quoted me a firm $3526.37 "Out the door" which includes installing a rear luggage rack, front & rear axle sliders, and a replacement rear shock. I have already purchased the accessories from Bikerzbits and will be providing them to the dealer for install.

Since I can't even get a response from the salesman at Woods Fun Center or a firm price from the sales manager there, I obviously haven't been given an ETA either.I'm glad I insisted on a written receipt of my $500.00 refundable deposit from Woods Fun Center. We'll see how long it takes to get my money back once I do officially contact them in writing to say I'm canceling my order .

Kent Motorsports is a "Powerhouse" Honda only dealer, so they will be getting their bikes around Aug. 15. It's my understanding that non-powerhouse dealers receive their Groms around Aug. 25.

Rain, thanks for detailed reply!

Can you send me details on the luggage rack that you bought. Have you thought about windshields yet?

i'm still a newb, so what are sliders? do i need them?

From other forums have you read the stock single shock isn't strong enough? why replace it so fast?

At the kent location, did they say how many they would be recieving? Stubbs 59 said they are recieving 10. 6 deposits had already been paid!

Rain,

Did you buy the bikerzbits rack? They mention how much weight it could hold? I now have a yamaha zuma with bulitin rack, and i installed a med sized trunk... I hope my grom doesn't looks too odd with it.
Hey lkwan. I did buy the luggage rack, crash bungs/axle sliders & rear shock online from Bikerzbits. The rack is rated for about 10 pounds, but it is stout & will no doubt hold my backpack's contents even if I go 20 pounds or so. The axle sliders/crash bungs replace the axle nuts. They take the brunt of the damage if the bike goes down and slides; the sliders are then sacrificed as they get ground down in the slide as opposed to the axle bolts. Think of them as cheap insurance against cosmetic damage. Plus, they just look cool! I'm replacing the rear shock because I'm a lot heavier than 150 pounds & I know I will need the beefier suspension. Not planning on any wind shield.

Barry Barber of Kent Powersports in Kyle told me they were getting 10 Groms in around Aug. 15. They only require a $100 refundable deposit to reserve a Grom. Give Barry a call & tell him I referred you. If you end up buying from him, I'll get $100 to use on whatever at the dealership:) I think I read a post yesterday from someone that said they were #7 in line at Kent Powersports, but I'm not sure if that was from the San Antonio, New Braunfels, or Austin (located in Kyle) Kent Powersports dealership. When I reserved mine on Saturday, July 13, Barry told me I was second in line. If you're serious about getting a Grom, I'd get your money down to reserve one ASAP because you may be waiting for months if you don't get one in the first or second alotment to the dealers.

Hmm none of that coincides with what they told me when I put my 10% deposit down on July 3rd. I'm 5th in line and they said they were getting in 6. If I were you I would call them back and double check. The only way this would make sense is if all 4 people ahead of me backed out and I'm now first in line.

I'll be riding mine up and down South Congress to get to work then in SW ATX on weekends.

Just read this, and that's crazy. I was quoted $3885.13 with nothing being installed. Looks like I'm gonna need to be the one giving them the call.

Raindragon, thanks for the tip. I called Barry Barber. and he got me squared away. BTW is your wife's name Mary? I wanted to make sure you get the $100 credit

Getting slightly confused those... because redwuken said he is 5th in line on july 3rd.
Rain you put your deposit down on the 13th but your 2nd in line???
I just put my deposit down on the 18th, but when i just spoke with him. Barry said they are getting 6. but they have 1 red and 1 black still left unspoken for. So I'm also 5th in line? I think all three of us need to have a conference call with barry in the morning? PM me !!!

He wanted the same $3526.37 OTD, but get this. They are going to call in the morning because there is a honda part number for a honda luggage rack. Depending on cost and availability. I'm will get that instead.

I'm also considering ordering the yoshi r9 pipe that just got released. Hopefully they will install it for me.

If anyone wants a red grom. in the austin area, Call Barry! Please tell him my name so i can get a credit too... Luke Kwan.

Since i'm in houston. And Kyle is 2 hrs away. I intially planned on making a road trip in my car, and riding it back! When I told him that, barry said they could deliver it to me for $50! That is so worth it because forget 4 hr round trip, i would spend that on gas alone!!!

Who did you speak to? Was his name reid. When i spoke with him earlier today. he couldn't come up with a OTD price. His answer was i don't know!!! I was completely unsatisfied with his responses.

I think you need to speak only to Barry because he stated he was the store manager? When searching honda's site for powerhouse dealers. Barry's name is listed a internet manager.
