I have never purchased a motorcycle from a dealer. I am a buisness owner and understand they are in business to make a profit so don't give me any BS lectures.

However, do you have to pay the $450 set up and delivery charges? Doesn't the Grom arrive in a metal crate basically good to go?

Also, they are wanting $300 for DMV/ title and reg? WTF. Last time I checked this was a $79 fee in Oregon?

Are they just getting away with these fees because the hot demand for the Grom...?

car and bike dealers love to make stupid free money on stuff. "document fees" are more accurately labeled "money we just want to have"

I don't know what state the bike is in when it comes out of the crate. I do know that the Honda website lists a $125 destination charge for the Grom. What the other $325 is paying for is unknown. It seems like a stretch that there would be 4+ hours of technician work to do on a brand new bike.

That is just a way for them to make extra money they only prep the battery, add oil, set handlebars and install mirrors there are cheaper dealers out there

By paying inflated prep and shipping fees only makes the dealers think it's alright to overcharge customers ... I would never pay 4k or more out the door for a grom I will travel to another dealer that charges a fair price just out of principle wish more people would do the same

450 sounds like Motorsport 450 is a little high. Call honda of woodburn last time I was there is was around 200. Also on dmv you don't have to do it there depending on your county it may be cheaper do it with the dmv.

Buy used if you can....Let the first sucker take the hit...lol.

Braap
Most used groms for sale are ridiculously priced. People are taching those dealers fees back onto a used bike. To me that is a premium you pay for owning a new bike and any grom priced over 3k used is just trying to get away with highway robbery unless it has mods well worth a premium price and I dont mean things like grips and a new chain.

Know what a reasonable price is. For my area, $3500 is a pretty reasonable price for everything...bike, taxes, title, registration. In other words, the out the door price. Dealers might very well tell you they are not charging you anything for one add on, but they just add more to another add on. The only thing you should be concerned with is the out the door price and only talk to them in terms of that cause otherwise you can get screwed over. OTD is all that matters.

I'll agree about $3500 for a reasonable out the door price. My dealer also wanted a $300 "clerical fee" to register it. Told them to stuff it and I'd go to dmv myself. Dealers are not required to register it, and the fees are usually huge. Nothing you can do about tax. Sometimes as an incentive dealers will waive the destination fee but that's pretty unlikely on the grom. Also unlikely you'll buy one for anything less than sticker price.
