So I've noticed a variety of reactions from other bikers: some wave, some just stare, others seem to be actively ignoring me. I get more waves on the highway, I guess because bikers see a vague motorcycle shape and assume it's a bigger bike? Around town, I get far fewer waves. So far, cruiser guys seem much more likely to wave. I've gotten zero response from sport bike riders, even when I thrown my hand down first. I've given up on scooters. I don't think they know what to do. Anyone else having responses? I know a lot of you are having conversations and getting a lot of attention, but I feel basically ignored around New Orleans. Regional? Just me? Should I give up on waving?

I wave at everyone. Most times I get a wave back.
The more I think about it, maybe one of the issues in town is that we're all shifting/dealing with traffic/dodging potholes (this is New Orleans, have you seen our streets?) I guess there have been a few times I missed waving back because I had my left hand occupied.

I'm a big advocate of The Wave, but not if I'm occupied with my left hand, of course. Currently I am getting about a 90% return on my waves. YMMV.

The last couple of times I have been out I've gotten The Big Thumb Up!

To the dude saying were riding scooter!

2. Inverted forks
3. Disk brakes
4. Grom
And im so used to the wave i just throw it half the time idk if they throw it back but if your riding even a scoot your out riding moving the soul and possibly going into my shop to keep this lifestyle going another day.
WE know that, but does the squid on the sportbike or drunk on the cruiser know that? ;) They just see size and think small fry...
Don't give in to the pea brained biker camps...Too cool for school fools.
Enjoy your ride and have not a care in the world ..

In my area, most sports bikers wave at me but not many harley riders. (maybe because I wear sports leather jacket?) On the canyon road near my house where many riders comes, most of them wave each other out of respect but not many on the street. But I still wave whenever I see a fellow motorcyclist.

I would say I'm getting about 70 percent back on the wave most from non Harley Davidson riders. I pass a Harley shop on my way to work and home and yes I know I don't make a lot of noise but I rarely get even a glance. I just shift and throttle on. I am a firm believer of the wave.

I get a lot of waves here in UT cruisers, sport bikes, cars a bunch of people wave and a few people in cars talk to me at the lights. I don't wave back I'm not fully confident with a clutch yet still working on it. But it is a lot more fun than my Ruckus was.

Most of my waves are answered. Pretty funny watching the look in a 'big' biker's eyes when pulling up next to him at traffic lights, or overtaking them in some twisties...
They tend to be confused by expecting a kid, and seeing a guy wearing decent motorcycle gear. Doesn't compute in their heads.

Those Harley dudes think there the shit here on Long Island, they don't even wave to each other. I don't get waves from anyone but the sport bikers even on my dirt bike. I've given up on waving at other bikers because 80% of them are Harley guys and don't look anywhere but strait ahead, like a horse with siders lol
