I have noticed this with my Grom since new. Sometimes as I am accelerating wide open, around 36 MPH I will feel one quick jerk. Kind of like a hesitation and then a short surge. Anyone else have that? Anyone know any possible causes? Chain is tightened within spec, does not feel like it is chain related, more engine related.

I have noticed from day one, I thought it was the clutch slipping so I pulled it apart to look. it happens only in 3rd gear at roughly 6k rpm at roughly 3/4 throttle. that's the best description I can give. its an ecu/fi issue. I haven't spent any time to troubleshoot. likely a timing map issue, maybe tps adjustment. I'm not to concerned so I'll figure it out once I get tired if the glitch.

What gear and RPM? Sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter in second.

Negative. Third gear and no where near red line. I would agree with Mini Moto, probably around 6K rpm. EDIT: Going to work today for the first time I noticed it doing the same thing in 4th gear around 50 MPH. I checked the tach and I was around 6,500 rpm. This indicates that it is engine speed related versus land speed related.

I had this happen once and was in heavy traffic so didn't take notice of what gear or RPM. I can say it was no where near the revlimiter. It was quite alarming. It felt electrical like spark delivery. Bike has +800mi now without one hiccup.
At what mileage did your glitches show up?

I couldn't honestly tell you what mileage it showed up, if I remember correctly it was since new. I just wanted to make sure I was not the only one. Bringing it in for service is unlikely to get much resolution since it is an intermittent problem, so I will just deal with it.

Check your connectors. Check continuity of the coil. How does this happen often? Every day?

I havent had this problem, however it sometimes does not want to go into third from second.

I get a very nice crisp click from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 4th, but I have to slam it into 3rd from 2nd. It only happens when I go up in gears not when I go down.

Mines done it from day one and I can almost get it to repeat on demand. I figure a fuel controller will fix it when one comes out. Ill try to pull the o2 sensor wire and see if it throse an FI light. If not then Ill ride it and see if it stops the hiccup. If so then its a mapping issue. It feels like its a map switching issue. Eventually someone will figure it out. Im not overly worried its just a little annoying.
